At some point someone has put a plastic spigot on the bottom and added a steel ring to the base. There is a painted brown star on the lid and the side of the can as well. This could use a cleaning. If you wanted to remove the stars. I would assume it would come off fairly easy. I've removed paint from stainless w/ a wire wheel on a cordless drill in the past and it usually does pretty good. The top is hinged onto the body. It has no dents on it. It is in EUC. My mother had it for many years and she gave it to me about 30 years ago. I have been on the company website.
