This auction is for an old metal dairy container. It might have been used for something like grain or other product but I was always told these were used for milk. It has the words Kohler Mix embossed on the front. It is all metal and is solid and heavy. It measures approx. 25 inches tall and the base is about 13 inches in diameter. It is not perfect. I purchased these at an estate sale because I thought they were unusual and very pretty. But I don't know much about them. I've listed one here, but have 4 more available if you're interested. Measure about 9" tall without lid x 4" opening at top ad 6 1/4" in overall diameter. I don't know quite how to describe these. They are hand blown and I think etched glass- maybe end of day glass, but would welcome any information or ideas you're willing to share with me. Glass is imperfect; bubbles and imperfections. Early Republic period Carved Bamboo Tea Cannister
For sale is a beautiful hand carved tea canister made from bamboo. This piece was most likely carved by a villager for home use. It looks like it is carved to resemble a vase. The carvings are sharp and skillfully done. It is a natural color with nice polish. 4 1/2" tall by 4" wide. This is a unique piece as I have not seen on like it.

1920s PROTECTOSEAL Chicago First / Early Flash Arrester Cannister
This is an old cannister from"Protectoseal Co. Chicago, 228A" as embossed on the lid. EM" in a diamond shape is also embossed on the lid. I was amazed to discover in my research that this company invented the first vapor and flame control device for fire controll in the 1920s, in response to the significant manufacturing losses from that hazard. R.J. Anochicks applied a design from the Davy Miner's Lamp, which used a perforated metal barrier to prevent mixtures from combusting- flash arrester" or flame arrester vent. Anochick's cannisters were used for safely storing flammable liquids. They had the secondary benefit of reducing evaporation. In the 1930s, Protectoseal adapted their technology for petroleum and petrochemicals, and then to tank safety equipment. It is a flourishing business today. My cannister has ... morea hinged lid. Inside, there is a metal ring that holds in place another metal piece that is concave and covered with tiny holes, like a screen. The ring can be removed by means of twisting it free from the clamp on the outside of the can that holds it in place. Under the screen is a large coil or spring-I don't know what this was for. The cannister is 3.5 inches wide by not quite 4.5 inches in diameter at the base. The inner diameter is 3 7/8 inches. The cannister has a lot of grease on it; I cleaned it up a little, but didn't want to risk damaging the red paint. The condition is as shown in the photos: some small scratches from use, minor paint loss except on the top of the hinge where most of the paint is now gone, and a dusting of rust on the inside. RARE Mars Candy Collectible Hinged Metal Cannister Holland 1999 Transportation
MARS Candy Collectible Hinged Top Tin Empty Canister Container Holland 1999 This is a collectible tin canister with a hinged top that once contained and advertised Mars candy bars. Manufactured by Mars Inc. The candy is long-gone, and this is now empty. The production date is 1999. This canister depicts pictures of old-fashioned. Antique various modes of transportation on each of the 4 sides. They include: Penny-farthing high wheel bicycle. Harley Davidson motorcycle, blimp, steam boat, convertible car- jalopy(looks similar to a 1910 vehicle that I found on-line) candy delivery truck, steam locomotive and propeller-driven aircraft. The underside of the can still has the original label with ingredients. Dates and other information in various languages. It states Mars, Holland. The label is in very fine, near mint condition. The canister colors ... moreare vivid and bright. There are some very minor light surface scratches on it, particularly on the side depicting the train and plane, and also wrapping around on it's right side. The other sides look great! The hinged top fits snugly. There is a tiny almost undetectable spot. Perhaps rust, on the very edge of the lid, left side. This is about the size of a pin hole. There are no gouges, dents, deep scratches, warping, rust or other noticeable flaws that I have found, other than what I've described and the pictures show. Please bear in mind that the pictures are larger and more detailed so they will exaggerate any flaw. The inside is also in excellent condition. Over-all this canister looks almost new, considering it's 13 years old. The approx. measurements including the lid are 5-3/4" high x 3-1/2" wide. With a circumference of 15" This canister is a great collectible. Perfect for storing items in your vintage kitchen or anywhere that you wish. A goregous jug and canister with lid made of a hard plastic/ melamine type material and made by Emser- a top quality German manufacturer. HUGE C1840 CHINESE GOLD GILT LACQUER TEA CADDY W LGE SINGLE PEWTER CANNISTER 12"
For your consideration we have here a superb early 19c Chinese export gold gilt tea caddy of considerable size which is just under 12" wide with a single heavy pewter canister with a hinged lid and very thick walls. This great caddy was produced in Canton. China around c1840 and was exported to America and arrived on the East coast where most all the trading ships came into as the previous owners purchased it there from a large house sale back in the 1970s. This is about as large as this type of caddy was made with a good thick walled box lacquered with vignettes of figures in outdoor pavillion settings drinking tea while being served with floral, fern and Buddhist symbols decorating around the busy painted reserves. The inside has a wonderful double opposing fern on the inner lid with a large and heavy pewter canister having a hinged ... morelid with turned knob and is nicely engraved with figural decoration. The hinges are of a heavy gauge along with a'Patent' heavy duty lock assembly that does work but no key and because of the amount and cost of the tea the owners did not want any of the help taking the tea home with them so good sturdy locks were ordered. Condition is good but there is age wear and can be expected although all four sides are excellent with little wear as it is mainly the top and both sides of the lid and the underside from moving it about and the inside is also very good with just some wear in the inside corners of the lid and I would say 50 to 60 years ago there was some touch ups performed on the outside corners mainly again on the lid but all in all a fabulous and rare size caddy which displays beautifully. Sizes: Width 11-3/4" x Depth 8-1/4" x Height 6-1/2" and the weight is 8ibs 8.5ozs. A wonderful opportunity for the collector to own a very large and impressive gilt lacquer caddy. This came in a box lot of dug relics. Includes 5 items: 1) a lead bar(5"x5" used to mold bullets. Found in Confederate winter campsite in Spotsylvania county, Va. 2) A spike candle holder recovered in Germantown, Va. Fairfax Co. Site was used as camp by the 5th NY cavalry and attacked at this site by John Mosby. 3) A pipe bowl, imbedded with"Dublin Cork" no recovery location(4) a 1" cannister ball, heavily pitted, no recovery location and(5) an unidentified object made of lead or pewter. Vintage 4 pc. cannister set, metal with tulip graphics, Japan
Awesome retro kitchen cannisters with tulips all around. Good condition with a couple of very minor scratches in the painted metal. Perfect for flour. Sugar, coffee, and tea but they aren't marked so you could put whatever you'd like in them. The lids fit loosely, there isn't a tight seal and I'm sure that's how they were made. The largest cannister has a"made Japan" sticker on the bottom, otherwise I didn't see any makers mark. These 4 cannisters fit inside each other(nest) for packing purposes and storage.
