It is of a plain oval form with convex panelled corners and a gadrooned pattern around the top rims of each piece. The teapot has a black wooden handle and a hinged rectangular lid which has a dome shape to the centre on top on which is the wooden finial. The spout has a flat top with a shaped top front edge with a wide base. The sugar bowl has a narrow question mark shaped handle at each side and the milk jug has the same shape handle. The sugar bowl is just under 6.75 inches long from handle to handle, the actual body being 4.75 inches long, 4 inches wide and 3.75 inches tall to the top of the handles. This Ar-moire is in beautiful condition and has been passed down to me with the following info. The items actual date of manufacture is unknown. But has been stated as being 1890-1899. Material used for construction has been stated to be Burl Walnut. Item was originally purchased at an estate sale in Beverly Hills, CA. Weight of item has been stated to be in excess of 300 lbs. but never actually taken. Item is stated as being 100% original in hardware and materials used. Now for what we know for sure. This Ar moire is very large! Measures 76" tall(from bottom of legs to tallest point. Center) with 72 1/2" across(from left to right edge, center) and a depth of 19 1/2" Diagonally(from bottom left corner, across face, to top right corner) it measures 102" The wardrobe is sectioned into three pieces. The left two thirds share ... moretheir interior space and have a beautiful brass closet style rod spanning its length, with original brass hangers and hooks.The right most third of this wardrobe is partitioned, and has three adjustable shelves and an original glass mirror(48x14x1/4) mounted on inside of door. Above the mirror is one of the items two manufacturers stamps, MADE IN THE CITY OF BATH, ENGLAND(as pictured) The other is hand stamped on rear of door latches, and is a very clear"C& A" The construction is absolutely flawless and has absolutely no issues inside and out. This pair of handpainted tropical birds- possibly parrots. Depending on your interpretation- are perched on their tree branch base looking for a new home; is your collection the one for them? A lovely 3 piece set, each bird is a shaker on its own and perches on the branch(though they can also set rather stably on a table, as well) Out of Japan, as their markings indicate, they have clearly seen a great deal of love through the years, as one can see where the paint is coming off from handling.
