Vintage Corona "Silent" Portable Typewriter - Rare MAROON color - Looks Great!
Here you have a vintage Corona"Silent" model portable manual typewriter with its original case. Beautiful maroon color with gold lettering and glass keys. I have no idea how old this is. Notice it just says"Corona" on top. And"L.C. Smith and Corona" on the front edge— not the usual"Smith-Corona" name. Very good condition overall. There's a small ding where the folding carriage-return lever has hit the left edge of the lid. But no other scraps, dents, rust, or other damage. Some of the keys stick, and the carriage is a bit sluggish when you type or hit the space bar, so if you plan to actually type on this, it needs cleaning and lubricating. Everything internally seems to work, so nothing is broken inside, as far as I can tell; I think it just needs a good cleaning and maybe some fine-tuning. Obviously ... moreit needs a new ribbon, but I think you can find them on eBay easy enough, right? But if just want to display it because it looks so cool. You don't have to do a thing but buy it. Comes with the original case. Not sure what happened to the handle; maybe some critter nibbled on it. But some of the leather is missing, as you can see in the last photo. Otherwise the wood case is in good shape. Nice and solid. The latches, hinges, and typewriter catches(which hold it in the case) work fine. SD Vintage Brothers Word Processor WP-2410 DS Still Works! This l isting is for a Vintage Brothers Word Processor WP-2410 DS Still Works! This machine is in pretty good shape there are some minor issues such as on the back of the machine is a flap you can open up and inside of there is where they keep the cord. Well the little flap has one of the hooks on the side that helps it latch properly is completely missing. Also on top of the machine the plastic part that covers the typewriter part has one of the latches broke off of the side which holds it onto the top of the typewriter. None of this issues affects whether or not it can work. I tested it in our store and used both functions of this machine. I used the computer and was able to print off what I had typed. And I used the typewriter by inserting paper and typing it worked exactly like ... moreit was supposed to. On the back of this machine right below the compartment for the cord are two stickers each of them says something different. Vintage LC Smith & Bros. Typewriter, ca. 1940's
This machine is sure to catch the eye and is a great conversation piece. It was used only in our own store environment. All parts are present. But the machine will require some restoration to get it to full working condition. The carriage moves smoothly in response to keys, but does not move using the return handle.
