The actual wheelwriter is an IBM Typewriter 6781-018. I don't believe this makes a big difference. I Tested it and everything seems to work except the spacebar. Ebay's definition of"refurbishment" seems to apply ... moreonly to units that weren't working right before being refurbished; but I work on all Wheelwriters I receive. No matter what condition they are in when I get them. This unit, for example, as received, was already very clean, and all functions I have tested(virtually all of them, and certainly all of the basics such as underlining, boldfacing, centering and spell checking for example) as well as all basic keys including the tab key and the correction features, all worked fine as received. The only"flaw" as received was that the ribbon advance motor was not working reliably, so I replaced it with a good working condition used one and tested it extensively after the replacement, to make sure that it was working properly. I clean the platen using a tool and a liquid cleaner-conditioner that was developed specifically for platens in printers and typewriters. I remove any dried on correction fluid(such as brand names"Liquid Paper" or"Wite-Out" from the platen(and from other surfaces in and on the typewriter) The rest of the steps of refurbishment are as follows: I remove the top cover and clean it inside and out.
