It is in working order. Does type smoothly. But it could use a new ribbon as the ink in the current ribbon is a little weak. I have not tested the floppy drive as I do not have a disk, so I cannot guarantee to it's operation. The screen on the monitor is crisp. This is a piece of history. It was made in 1982. It was of prior to laptops and just on the early era of personal computers. It was a hybrid electric typewriter with a tiny screen. Brothers describes as"the world's first and smallest battery-powered electronic personal printer. which incorporated a thermal transfer printing mechanism. The ribbon is in a small cassette. There is a small window where 15 characters are visible as you type. The actual printing is several characters behind so that you can correct a mistake before it is printed. Operates on four D batteries or AC power(adapter not included) It was super cool in 1982. I wanted one badly but did not get one! The one is in excellent condition. Clean with very little wear. This Word Processor is in top condition. The only thing I think is missing is the cover in the back that covers the cord. But the cord stays in place without it. I will try to find it before sending it, but can't make any promises. The manual says 1992 and I imagine that is about when I bought it new. I had a new package of two ribbons for it and I, just a couple of weeks ago, put the new tape in it and typed a document when my internet was off. It worked perfectly. I could correct errors before printing it. It comes with one more new ribbon and two manuals. It also has some papers with it that say Supply Order Form and a repair receipt from 1995. I used it until 1997 mainly to fill out scholarship applications for my children.
