I brought it home and came to the realization the motor is sticking, so I tried manually spinning ... morethe motor and eventually got it to work. The motor does seem either loose or something causing it to make a banging noise. I also got it to type some letters out and was working fine then suddenly it the text ball slowed to a stop. I’m not sure what is causing this to happen, but if fixed then should work like new. It is old and therefore is a bit dirty inside, as well. Because of the condition and expensive shipping I am willing to listen to offers on this item.

I purchased a group of ten of these and these 5 didn't make the cut for individual listings. I have no interest in shipping these at all. I will deliver up to 100 miles($1 per mile) from 32118. Vintage 1963 IBM Selectric Model 72 Typewriter in Wildflower Blue
Here is a sweet little 11" Selectric I from the Kennedy Administration era. Built in 1963 and survives 100% unmolested by untrained techs and the ravages of time! I have rebuilt hundreds of these"baby Selectrics" from 1976 on and rarely if ever do I find one that is as pristine as this example! I buy several here on ebay and Craigslist and the fallout rate is very high, with one good one to maybe five not-so-great units which I use as donors for the special machines that I finally do list for sale here. This particular unit should be of special interest to that Selectric afficiano or ex-IBMer for the stunning untouched condition it remains in. I completely overhauled it and only had to check the calibrations as they were perfect and unnecessary to adjust. A true rarety. This typewriter is a well kept one owner machine belonging to a retired school teacher. She would type up recipes and one article a week for our local newspaper. It has been sitting for a while however I plugged it in and replaced the ribbon and it typed exactly as it should. It seems very solid and appears to function properly. There is something inherently magic about the drone of the IBM selectric ball flying across the page. Plus try typing carbons. Envelopes and forms. A good vintage IBM makes it easy. This was used only at home in a house that had two( Selectric III typewriters, one on each floor. The manual is dated 1992.
