T his"Correcting Selectric II" was IBM's improvement on it's original Selectric. Making it the most advanced, and most desired electric typewriter available. Recently the experience of actually"typing" has seen a renaissance due to the personal connection one experiences with the machine. There is nothing that can match the feel of an IBM Selectric typewriter. No more reprinting lists. Or printing envelopes 5 times because you just can't get it right with your PC. If you make a mistake. You can still make an easy correction by simply hitting the correction key! You can change Font type, or the size from 10 to 12, by switching out the element ball. The Courier 72- 10 pitch ball is included. This Selectric II is in beautiful condition. Only showing a bit of the 30+ years it has seen. A close inspection reveals no signs of abuse like scuffs or scratches, but there are some slight wear spots from use, mostly right on the edges. More importantly, it operates flawlessly with all leavers operating correctly and all keys striking the correct letters on the test page shown. The third row shows the correcting feature also working. Mechanically I cannot see any issues whatsoever! I checked the operation of every feature mentioned in the manual. IBM Correcting Selectric II Electronic Typewriter with extra ribbon & tape
My mothers typewriter. Who took very good care of it and was hardly used. It also has the dual pitch 10 or 12 and multiple copy controls. Original rubber mat, not in best condition. Font ball in machine is Script 12 pitch, two extras are Prestige Elite 12 pitch and Courier 10 pitch. Included are 2 high yield correctable film ribbons in boxes and 3 in pkg of correction tapes. Original manual is included also. These extra balls and ribbons are worth approximately $85- $100. I have tested the typewriter and everything seems to be working. May need lubricating, as it has been stored for a few years. Please note: only one minor flaw on lower left corner where a small amount of paint has chipped in a very few spots. See picture.

IBM Selectric II Correcting estate typewriter. The pre-owned electric machine has a RED case and comes with the IBM cover and 1973 Operating Instructions manual. This is the machine that has the"new" interchangeable element ball. The machine was cleaned on the outside and tested. As pictured. I typed several words without problems. Other than the previous I have not tested additional functions. I would guess that the machine may need to be professionally cleaned and serviced for maximum performance. The only problems that I found were a 1" tear to cover and specks of white paint. The paint specks appear to be from someone painting a room. The paints specks are located on the front key area. I am not sure how difficult it would be to remove. Sold as is. This is a very heavy machine and will be shipped USPS or Fedex.

This typewriter appears to be in great condition. When plugged in. You can hear it power on, but when striking the keys, nothing happens. So I'm listing this one as for parts or repair. Typewriter-IBM Selectric II Correcting Repair or Parts Excellent Physical Condition In 1973 the Correcting Selectric II was announced. It added an internal correction feature to the Selectric II. Intended to eliminate the need for typists to use cover-up tape, white-out" correction fluid, or typewriter erasers. The carriage on this machine held both the main typing ribbon cartridge and two small spools for a correction ribbon. A new ribbon type, the Correctable Film ribbon, was introduced at the same time. This produced typing quality equal to the carbon film ribbon, but with a pigment designed to be easily removable from paper. There were two types of correction tapes: The transparent and slightly adhesive"Lift-Off" tape(for use with the correctable film ribbon) Or the white"Cover-Up" tape(for cloth, Tech-3, and ... morecarbon film ribbons) The correction tape was changed independently from the typing ribbon. The correction key(an extra key at the bottom right of the keyboard) backspaced the carriage by one space and also put the machine in a mode wherein the next character typed would use the correction tape instead of the normal ribbon. And furthermore would not advance the carriage. The typist would press(and release) the correction key and then re-type the erroneous character, either lifting it off of the page or(if using other than the correctable ribbon) covering it with white-out powder, then type the correct character. Any number of mistakes could be corrected this way, but the process was entirely manual, as the machine had no memory of the typed characters. Motor runs. Machine types well, keys do not stick. Return does not operate reliably, carriage does not always advance while typing. Needs ribbon and Correcting tape. Works well other than noted above. My favorite because of the even better reliability due to smaller shafts and assemblies than the wide 15" but this is an opinion as a wrench not a typist. The typists of my day loved these because they were light but not too small. Full boat Corrector in a smaller size but not expensive like a Personal Typewriter. Also, the parts were undisturbed nor misaligned all these years. IBM serviced this one and no third party misadjustments. I have saved this years ago and pushed it to the side to sell someday like today. Here is an absolute gem of an IBM Correcting Selectric! This one is a rare find. When it was shown to the employees at IBM. Back in 1979 as a concept, we could not figure out how IBM was able to pack a full correcting Selectric into such a small size! The fact that they made this machine in 1982 and sold out of them within weeks, impressed us once again. They are unique and rare. They named it right, it is a personal sized machine. I have sold only four or five in 30 years of repairing them. Super small 11" carriage, this will fit on a bedroom dresser or small stand. This machine is being overhauled by me and will be ready for delivery February 27th and will be exactly as this last one pictured. I have completely overhauled this machine per my"seller's other items" This is not simply a warmed over oiled and tested and cleaned. ... moreThis is completely chemically cleaned, re lubricated and I have basically remanufactured every aspect of this machine and it is as new. Inside, where only techs can see, is the real value of my work. This is a museum grade restoration. Be careful out there, many deceptive listings exist that are unconscionable to me. I will be specific upon request. These machines sell quickly and are an absolute joy to use. Perfect for writers and authors. Past clients include some famous ones. I am seeking the pictured genuine IBM-ISSUE carrying case which allows you to carry this anywhere and type. Too cool. we were told that it was made by Levi Strauss for IBM and is well made. I am out of these cases for now but. The color is'Ivory Bisque' with an'Espresso' base pan. Pictures lack the look of this machine. FedEx and professional crating for no worries. One year warranty on everything. I had to pay considerably more for this machine so I reluctantly must set the price one hundred dollars higher than the last three.
