When turned on, I hear a very quiet hum, like it's getting electricity, but it doesn't do anything. It won't respond when any keys are pushed. The paper ruler has come off and one of the springs is stretched and no longer useable. There is a strip that is coming loose as well. This is shown in the photos. All the keys are there. There is a lever missing off the top. This is shown in the photos as well. All-n- all, the typewriter has been neglected and is not in very good shape. It's also very dirty under the keys and on the inside. There is some wear on the body. There are a few areas where the paint has chipped away and it's dirty in some places, including some white out spots. Some numbers are written in sharpie on the underside. Dual pitch(either 10 or 12 spaces per inch) and line-and-a-half vertical spacing. Like its predecessor. The Selectric II was available in standard and wide-carriage sizes and in various colors, including red and blue as well as traditional neutral colors. The Selectric II used the same typeballs, which were available in many fonts, including symbols for science and mathematics, script, Old English, and more than a dozen ordinary alphabets. Vintage IBM Selectric II Correcting Typewriter - Brown Beige
I personally tested this. And got some help from my mom as well since I have not had much experience with these. From the best we could tell, it just needs new tape as it will peck at the paper but makes odd feint symbols. Maybe the typing unit needs turned to get the correct symbols. I can't guarantee that it will fully work after the new tape is put on. Because as I said before, I don't have much experience with these, but that was the best we could tell. The unit does fully power on and all the buttons I tested work. The last picture included is some of the typing that was done while I was testing the unit. WORKING VINTAGE IBM SELECTRIC II 2 TYPEWRITER ELECTRIC MID CENTURY
Up for bid is a great vintage IBM Selectric II typewriter. This unit weighs nearly 40 pounds and measures approximately 20 inches long by 16 inches wide by 7 inches tall. The unit has been tested and it is in working condition. I was able to type out every key that I tried. There appears to be a good amount of ink remaining in the cartridges. Overall the unit is in excellent condition. The interior is a bit dirty and dusty from age but looks to be complete. All of the keys are present. The exterior is in great condition with only general light surface wear and scratching in places. I am not fully knowledgeable about typewriters. So please see the pictures for a better idea of condition.

This typewriter is in working condition and includes two correction ribbons and one regular ribbon plus a new ribbon was just put into the machine. I love the feel of this typewriter! The only glitch we noticed is that when I typed very fast occasionally it put two letters in one spot. I don't know if that is because of the ribbon or something else. This is a vintage IBM Correcting Selectric II typewriter and lot of accessories. It is in like new condition. It was bought in 1975. Used very lightly for about a year and then was covered and put up on a shelf where it lived until now. I am selling it for a friend who is the original owner. She said it has only been through one ribbon/tape cartridge in its lifetime. It comes with a box of accessories including 5 font balls. 6 including the one installed on the machine itself. It has a working tape in the shuttle and 3 extra unused tapes. There is also a spool of correction tape and several brushes included. There are 3 original manuals as well as the original purchase paperwork. $9000 in 1975! I am not a typewriter expert. But it appears that everything is in good working order except that the shuttle will not return. The owner said the ... morelast time she tested it it was working. It will backspace however, so it's not stuck. I looked this problem up on the internet and it sounds like it is a simple reattachment/replacement of the torque limiter tension spring which can be easily be done by a professional or a hobbyist who knows what they're looking at. Apparently this is not an uncommon problem for a typewriter of this age that has been sitting idle for many years. I cannot guarantee that this is the problem though and this machine is being sold AS IS. So please keep that in mind.
