It powers up and the motor runs. But it does not currently ... moretype. It was working up until a few years ago and has sat unused on a shelf in a climate controlled room for quite some time. At some point it stopped working. Cosmetically. It is in very nice condition. As you can see in my third photo. The thin metal tape that pulls on the ball to make it rotate is either broken or has come undone. In addition to that it most certainly needs a new ribbon and a good cleaning and may very well have other issues I am not aware of. It powers up and the motor runs. But it simply is not functioning. IBM Selectric Model 72 tan light brown Typewriter PARTS REPAIR RESTORE AS IS
This is a vintage tan IBM selectric elwctric typewriter for parts. Repair or restoration sold as is. The power cord is in good condition and tge unit powers up fine. The problem is that it is constantly rolling the paper forward as if the return button is stuck. The keys type bit a few of them get stuck for a few seconds when depressed before popping back out. It looks fairly clean on the inside. The dust cover has a few small holes and stains. Comes from a clean smoke free home. We combine shipping.

IBM Selectric One Typewriter w/ Coverlet. 1968. Green. For Parts or Repair Only.
Travel back in time with this vintage IBM Selectric One typewriter. The users manual is dated 1968. It comes with that manual. The coverlet, and an extra ball. When it is turned on, it turns on, but just keeps clicking like something is stuck. I have not done anything to it to try to fix it. It came from an estate sale at a home where the people really took good care of their stuff. The house was really cared for. It might be an easy fix, it might not, I have no idea. Other than that, it is fine cosmetic condition. Like I said, these people took care of their stuff. The color is sort of olive green. The cover has a couple small slits in the vinyl on the sides. Up for auction are two vintage IBM Selectric typewriters for parts or repair. The 1960's Brown/tan Selectric Typewriter types but carriage does not move when you strike keys. The typewriter has an IBM Prestige Elite 12 Element ball. The tag on typewriter reads: Volts 15 Cycles 60 Amperes 1.5 Model 71. The 1980's Blue Selectric Correcting II typewriter also types when powers on but carriage does not move. I took the ribbon off to see why carriage would not move when typing and could not get the ribbon back in place. The typewriter has the words Library written on the inside cover. IBM Selectric Typewriter Working with 3 Additional Scripts
This typewriter has not been used much in the past twenty years. But as soon as I plugged it in it started typing very well. The L and P were sticking a little bit, but the more I typed the better they worked. It might need a tune-up or just to be oiled. It has had one owner who took very good care of it. Selling a used Selectric typewriter cover with logo. It fits my Selectric 1 in terms of width and depth. But is a bit tall. Dimensions are: 15 1/2 inches wide, approx. 16 inches deep and 10 inches tall. The seams are completely intact all around. It does have some very small cracks, the largest three being just under an inch. The plastic is still flexible. There are some other minor blemishes since this is a used cover. But still has a lot of life left. The two type balls are Courier and Bookface, both are marked"72" and"10" with solid triangles. They are used, but functional. Shipping within the US include tracking.

When turned on, I hear a very quiet hum, like it's getting electricity, but it doesn't do anything. It won't respond when any keys are pushed. The paper ruler has come off and one of the springs is stretched and no longer useable. There ... moreis a strip that is coming loose as well. This is shown in the photos. All the keys are there. There is a lever missing off the top. This is shown in the photos as well. All-n- all, the typewriter has been neglected and is not in very good shape. It's also very dirty under the keys and on the inside. There is some wear on the body. There are a few areas where the paint has chipped away and it's dirty in some places, including some white out spots. Some numbers are written in sharpie on the underside. IBM Selectric Typewriter This listing is for one used IBM Selectric typewriter. Typewriter is in original condition. Case has original red color. Typewriter works. However, does need some adjustment. I believe all the keys work, upper and lower case. The font/ball is Elite 12. Please carefully review the attached photos to determine the typewriter's exterior condition. One photo is a short typed note. As you can see. The carrier doesn't move the full distance when on the right side of the typewriter. The tab key works, however, sometimes is stubborn. Sometimes the carriage return will advance one line and sometimes two lines. The round handle on the right side of the roller requires re-gluing or replacement; when turned, the platten does not move. One must use the left side knob to manually advance the roller(or the carriage return ... morebutton) Sometime when one hits the carriage return, the roller will just keep advancing. Most of the time the space bar works, however, sometimes when the carrier is on the left side it takes a couple clicks. Then it works fine going across the page. The motor seems to work fine, however, something is probably not perfectly aligned as it will make a steady noise. If the typewriter is tapped or touched, then the noise goes away and the typewriter just purrs(like it should) Then out of the blue, it will start again. I don't know anything about typewriters. I'm sure someone with some technical knowledge could put this unit back into tip top shape with a few adjustments. All items shipped via USPS will have USPS Tracking. If available. This was my mother's typewriter before she upgraded to a Kaypro computer. I believe. I plugged it in and typed a few words, but then it jammed. The bar thingy that holds the paper in place is whopper jawed and needs to be fixed. I'm guessing someone who knows typewriters would find fixing these things fairly easy, but I'm not sure. Buyer would be taking it as is. I realized the extra balls in the pictures belonged to a different type of typewriter when I started listing, although if someone knows otherwise, let me know. Our parents are getting to that point where they need assisted living more than they need things. See the last few pictures for"defects" Some foam on the left inside case is degrading. A couple of wear marks where the top closes. The surface texture is slightly worn at the two front corners. Tested and seems to be working I am not an expert. Although I did use one of these once upon a time, and I mostly tested by pushing levers and keys randomly until something happened. Here is a nice 15" Selectric I with carbon ribbon that is almost ready for sale. I am mid-overhaul and will complete this by May 8. I buy several here on ebay and Craigslist and the fallout rate is very high. With one good one to maybe five not-so-great units which I use as parts donors for the special machines that I finally do sell here. The higher impact speed along with a sweeter touch are the older series calling card. This machine is a rare find and was a joy to overhaul and present for sale.
