Olivetti Red Valentine Portable Manual Typewriter~Ettore Sottsass~Types Cursive!
Designed by Ettore Sottsass and Perry A. King in 1969 to be an“anti-machine” machine to be used anywhere but an office! This typewriter is a real POP ART design icon. There has been one in MOMA in NYC since 1971 and it’s featured in almost every reference book on 20 th Century Design. They were produced in red and the rarer white color. This type writer was purchased in the Wall St area of NYC in 1973 to be used for F.I.T. college papers. It has had one owner. Last used in the late 90’s. It works- the current ribbon is dried out but there is a new boxed ribbon in sealed plastic- purchased online a few years ago. It has the original instruction book(has some creases) and cleaning brush. It was made to type in either black or red and it types in cursive! Elegant design and lightweight to carry- makes you happy when you use it. Some signs of ... morewear- especially on the case which has a few scratch and pen marks. There is a slight rough edge on the top of the case. The rubber locks on the case are not dried out and still work. The typewriter itself is in very good condition and works well. Carriage and keys still move freely and the locking mechanism works. Types in elegant CURSIVE. Case is 14 in long by 13 in wide. 4 ½ in deep. Typewriter is 3 ½ in high. 12 ¾ in wide and 13 ½ in long. Olivetti Valentine Typewriter - Vintage Typewriter in Red with Carrying Case
Here's a great Olivetti Valentine typewriter in red with carrying case. The Olivetti Valentine is an icon of mid-century industrial design. And is one of the most unique typewriters out there. This is from Olivetti, an Italian company, and was designed in 1969 by Ettore Sottsass. This typewriter is in the permanent collection of MOMA and a number of other design museums. This is in good shape and shows very well. It does not. However, currently work. From the pictures you'll notice two things: 1. One of the ribbon holders/orange ribbon holders is missing. The ribbon holder is easy to find, the orange cap may be somewhat harder to locate. 2. The string that pulls the top along as you type needs to be reconnected. I believe these should be easy to fix for someone familiar with typewriters. Other than these two issues, the unit is in ... moregood shape- there are some light scratches/marks commiserate with age, and it could use a good dusting/cleaning. Vintage Olivetti Lettera 32 Manual Typewriter in Teal Color, Italy PARTS REPAIR
This listing is for a vintage Olivetti'Lettera 32' portable manual typewriter for parts or repair. The Lettera 32 was designed by noted Italian designer Ettore Sottsass. It has an all-metal body with contoured plastic keys. All keys strike properly and only one is a bit sticky. The typewriter has two main issues: the carriage advances properly during typing but the carriage release lever does not operate properly(the right-side release is bent) and the carriage doesn't always go into place properly when the release does work. The other issue is cosmetic-the ribbon cover has a missing piece that has been broken off. There are no ribbon spools. The zippered case is included but the zipper does not work and the case is dirty. Sold As is for parts/repair.

Even though this very nice machine has the Underwood name on it. It is actually an Olivetti Lettera 32. Olivetti installed plastic bodies on their Lettera 32 machines and made them in different colors to be sold by Underwood, and other retail outlets like Montgomery Ward(the yellow Escort 55, etc. It has pica size type(10 letters to the inch) basket shift, and the snap-down lid functions as a handy carrying case.This tan plastic-bodied typewriter is in excellent condition. Vintage 60's Olivetti Lettera 32 Typewriter Complete with EXTRA'S FREE SHIPPING
The typewriter has not been used in 40 years but still works as new and looks near new all evidenced by many photos and an actual paper that I typed for the listing. You will not find any eraser dust or any other dust or dirt in the typewriter. When it was lightly used it was put back in is factory case after each use. I only used it my Senior year of High School as needed for one class that required my year end term paper. It comes as pictured with factory instruction laminated card. Shield for keys and original shipping stops that insert on each end of the carriage to prevent movement which will be put back in place before shipping. Please note the one photo of a very small cosmetic crack on the right side of the typewriter. It is a manufacturing defect as it was there when purchase which gave my Dad a 10.00 discount off the 60.00 original ... moreprice back then. A fine product of the merger between Olivetti and the iconic Underwood Typewriter manufacturers. This machine is typically stamped with the Underwood logo, but maintains the heavy influence from Olivetti which is conveyed by its streamlined, less-is-more aesthetic signature design. It has the same box design as Olivetti's most famous typewriters from the 60s and 70s as well as a flashy paper holder that retracts for portability.

BIDZOO. Very cool mid-century design! This 1960's typewriter was made in Barcelona. Spain. The mod design has made it a popular model. I found a quote from another I saw sell quite successfully in another auction said.designed by Italian architect Marcello Nizzoli in collaboration with Guiseppe Beccio, the Studio 44 is specifically calibrated to resemble the resistance and stability of a standard machine. A remarkable mod design statement. This typewriter is clean inside and out. No broken parts or damage. Roller turns freely. There are only minor signs of any usage, no dents at all. Will need a new ribbon but I was able to punch out a few lines. This machine comes in original storage case with vinyl typewriter cover and original registration card. Here is Underwood Olivetti Studio 44 portable typewriter with the carrying case in great condition. With the color generally described as robin's egg blue(my lighting may make it look green. But it's blue) this machine offers a beautiful finish with only minor wear- no dents, corrosion, or noteworthy scratches. All chrome elements shine, the type flies without issue, all key caps look good, the rollers tightly grip the paper, the carriage advances as it should, and the bell rings. Margin release, backspace, touch control, and carriage lock all work as expected. As the photo shows, the ribbon has light wear and is still able to place the letters on the page. The typewriter and case are clean and can be expected to deliver years of smooth typing pleasure. VINTAGE OLIVETTI UNDERWOOD LETTERA 32 ITALY TYPEWRITER IN CASE CLEAN WORKING
On the auction block we present this beautiful and completely functional Italian-made Olivetti Underwood Lettera 32 portable typewriter in the original case. The Avengers or James Bond comes to mind when viewing this pre-1965. State of the art instrument. This was the typewriter of choice for international journalists(if they could afford one) and the quality of craftsmanship has served these machines well. There are a few very minor scuffs to the 50 year old finish, but we have had a blast test driving it. The only issue with this machine is that it could use a new(or bend your own) spring clip on the left margin set slider; the current spring works and will most likely continue to, but I mention it for disclosure's sake. The ribbon is in adequate condition for use. The aqua/blue case looks beautiful(there is some yellowing and minor ... morespots on the off white felt lining) and the handle and zipper are robust and work perfectly. Until I started screwing around with EBAY a few weeks ago. I owned seven Olivetti typewriters, a few Hermes and Smith Coronoas and Olympias. I've owned maybe sixty or seventy manual typewriters in my life, all told. I've loved all of them-all of them-for their various design excellences and various quirks or cool features. But of them all. In my opinion, the best, most solid, the most truly workmanlike typewriter for protracted and efficient use, is the Olivetti Studio 44. I have sold off most of my typewriters in the last few weeks, but I still have TWO of these Studio 44s, and no matter what else I sell, I will always own at least one of them. The Studio 44 is a large machine. And heavy-it does not move around on the tabletop as you type, held in place by its rubber feet, its weight, and the size of it. The font is smallish compared ... moreto most American machines, which makes it excellent for postcards. The mechanism is extremely smooth, and the keystrike is very solid and positive-no wobble or uncertainty as is common with smaller machines. This one that I'm selling is in exquiste condition. The case is solid and pretty clean. With a slight stain on the inside as seen in the pictures. The typewriter itself is glorious. The enamel is great on it, very bright and very clean. The workings are not at all worn or gummed up, and everything is smooth and polished on it. It types fast and fluidly, and the strike of the keys on the paper is claen and flat, making for excellent consistent character-formation and extremely clear readable text, without partials or fade within letters. Added to which. cursive or script font. This is a typewriter for someone who is serious about typing. And not for someone who just wants one as decoration. You'l be able to find many cheaper Olivettis on EBay for that. This is a preserved and loved machine, and should be kept in use. Escort 55 (Olivetti Lettera 32) typewriter
Here is a machine that rarely comes up on ebay. It's an Olivetti Lettera 32 that was clothed in a yellow plastic body and renamed Escort 55. To be sold by Montgomery Ward about 1972. It has all the works of the excellent Lettera 32, including basket shift. This one has cursive type in elite size, as shown by one of the photos. The snap-down lid that forms the case has only one of two catches operational, but it latches firmly and there is no problem carrying the typewriter this way. The striking beauty of this machine is what appeals to me and to most people. In fact. I would not be selling this except that I have another one just like it that has pica type. In fact, my other one also has only one catch working on the lid. Maybe the eye appeal is the reason so few of these are put up for auction; typists and collectors tend to hang onto ... morethem. Personally, I like the looks of the Escort 55 better than the much more expensive Valentine, which is also a Lettera 32 under the skin. Olivetti Diaspron 82 Manual Typewriter
Olivetti Diaspron 82 Typewriter This is a heavy solid workhorse in fine and full working condition with a fresh ribbon. It even writes in red should the mood take you but I only typed out the sample in the pic in black. Serial No 154163 dates it to about 1960. Despite its age and a few marks from the usual wear and tear. It has a lovely positive and surprisingly light action when typing and sounds the business when doing so. That extra wide carriage can handle A3 in portrait too but it is not so big that it needs a whole desk to itself. Defects wise they are cosmetic really with scratched paint on the corners of the frame at the front near the space bar and one bit of smoothing off where the left shift key has been chipped in its past. That has been filed down to take off the rough edge and is still absolutely fine in use- plenty of width ... moreto get a good‘press’ on. This a battleship of a typewriter and was made as a top of the line industrial grade machine for some serious use in environments such as the back rooms of newspapers or publishing houses. This mid-1960s Italian Olivetti Praxis 48 electric typewriter is in excellent cosmetic condition and is fully tested and working. Co-designed by Ettore Sotsass. The Praxis 48 predates his equally futuristic"Valentine" typewriter and highlights the designer's distinctive boxy, angled geometric leanings. It's decades ahead of its time in visual style(the first time I saw a Praxis 48, I assumed it was manufactured in the 1980s) It has a look reminiscent of an old home computer, with a gray and platinum color scheme and bold green accents. This rugged and well-built electric typewriter has no serious cosmetic flaws that detract from the sleek space age look. It has been meticulously cleaned.
