Vintage Model C IBM Electric Typewriter 1959 – 1964
I do not know very much about the background of this typewriter other than what I have learned from a similar Ebay listing for the exact machine. There may be a ribbon included but I am not sure. You can buy ribbons for $16 or so on Ebay. It has been kept in my mother's basement for over 30 years and she wants to sell it. I have no reason to believe it does not work. If it doesn't. This typewriter is from our 3 rd generation. Family business in San Francisco. This was part of our display collection for many years. Now that we are moving. We are selling off some of this collection. This is an antique. Very rare. IBM Model 01 Electric Writing Machine- electric typewriter from 1935/36! The overwhelming customer acceptance of this model made it the first successful electric typewriter in the United States. This was the first IBM electric keyboard and we all know where that led! The last patent on this was 1936. So that should date it pretty close. See serial number, visible in photo. In great condition for its age. Everything seems to work fine. This is a"found" in our office supply cabinet- item. At one time we did have IBM typewriters in this office(the company is 29 years old) this I believe is a leftover from that day. Someone mentioned after I found it that there might be more of them. and even the cases they went into. I haven't found any of that yet. I believe we had Selectric 3- again- not so sure after all these years. Right now it's an"as it is" Courier 96 and 10- and IBM- because it says so on the item. Don't know what the 96 means. Seven IBM Selectric Typewriter Font Balls(I found one more- not pictured) Back to Cleaning out Granny's house and shed. I have been asked by the family to step it up a bit as I have been trying to match things up in sets. But I think there may not be many more groups, and in order to speed up selling I will be listing things as I come across them. I will also add, because I am frequently asked, that when it comes to glassware and dishes I do hand wash them in mild dish soap to clean off the dust and spider webs. Anything else I may dust, but I do not use any water or cleaning formulas especially on metals. I do not wash or dry clean any of the clothes. I wouldn't know what would help or destroy them and I've been told that most collectors prefer that they receive them in"found" condition. Lastly, I try to photo everything ... morewith and without a flash so you can get a clear view of the item. Sometimes the flash bleaches out the color and items may appear lighter. I do not know why Granny had these. As far as I know. She never had a typewriter. Anyway, included in the seven are 2 Courier 10, one in excellent condition the other in very good condition; 1 Orator 10 in very good condition, 1 Dual Gothic 12 in good condition, 1 Letter Gothic 12 in good condition, 1 Light Italic 12 in fair to good condition, and 1 Manifold 10 in fair condition with a piece of the latch broken off. Vintage IBM Selectric II Correcting Typewriter in Excellent Working Condition
This is an excellent example of an IBM Selectric II correcting typewriter. This typewriter has recentley been cleaned and serviced. The man who did the servicing was a retired IBM serviceman who said it was a great machine. We have tested it and everything works like it should including the correcting function. It comes with its original dust cover and a couple extra ribbons. Although we don't know condition of the ribbons. It also comes with a box of six NuKote Lift-off tape. Please note that this typewriter does not have Dual-Pitch or Half-Backspace levers though it has slots for those. I don't know if this was original or not. Though web research shows some Selectric II's without Dual-Pitch.
