BLACK RIBBON, POWER CORD CORRECTION TAPE Typewriter Overview Tested and 100% Operational Used Black Ribbon Model Overview The Selectric II was introduced in the late 1970s featuring self correcting. Dual pitch(either 10 or 12 spaces per inch) and line-and-a-half vertical spacing. Like its predecessor. The Selectric II was available in standard and wide-carriage sizes and in various colors, including red and blue as well as traditional neutral colors. The Selectric II used the same typeballs, which were available in many fonts, including symbols for science and mathematics, script, Old English, and more than a dozen ordinary alphabets. The typeballs came in two styles: One had a flip-up black plastic lever that could break off, and the other had a metal spring clip with two wire wings that squeezed together and did not break. Over the years, there were several different cartridge styles for the ribbons, even in the same model Selectric, and they were not interchangeable. In 1973 the Correcting Selectric II was announced. It added an internal correction feature to the Selectric II. Intended to eliminate the need for typists to use cover-up tape, white-out" correction fluid, or typewriter erasers. The carriage on this machine held both the main typing ribbon cartridge and two small spools for a correction ribbon. A new ribbon type, the Correctable Film ribbon, was introduced at the same time. This produced typing quality equal to the carbon film ribbon, but with a pigment designed to be easily removable from paper. Vintage 1963 IBM Selectric Model 72 Typewriter in Wildflower Blue
Here is a sweet little 11" Selectric I from the Kennedy Administration era. Built in 1963 and survives 100% unmolested by untrained techs and the ravages of time! I have rebuilt hundreds of these"baby Selectrics" from 1976 on and rarely if ever do I find one that is as pristine as this example! I buy several here on ebay and Craigslist and the fallout rate is very high, with one good one to maybe five not-so-great units which I use as donors for the special machines that I finally do list for sale here. This particular unit should be of special interest to that Selectric afficiano or ex-IBMer for the stunning untouched condition it remains in. I completely overhauled it and only had to check the calibrations as they were perfect and unnecessary to adjust. A true rarety. Over the years I have marveled at these early machine's ... morecomplexity compared to later, more simplified versions and the higher grade of metals used and the liberal use of stainless tool steel for critical printhead parts along with a much higher built quality. The higher impact speed along with a sweet touch on this one is impressive. This machine is a rare find and was a joy to overhaul and present for sale. One year unlimited warranty on everything. This typewriter is a well kept one owner machine belonging to a retired school teacher. She would type up recipes and one article a week for our local newspaper. It has been sitting for a while however I plugged it in and replaced the ribbon and it typed exactly as it should. It seems very solid and appears to function properly. There is something inherently magic about the drone of the IBM selectric ball flying across the page. Plus try typing carbons. Envelopes and forms. A good vintage IBM makes it easy. IBM Selectric III Typewriter Blue - Needs Service
IBM Selectric III typewriter. I bought at an estate sale. And it worked great, sold it, and they changed their mind and returned poorly packed and now some of the keys stick, the carriage knob handle is slightly bent(the roller works fine) and the"line finder" lever on the right was knocked off. I don't know if its damaged or just needs to be put back(looks ok- see photo) It powers up, types for the most part. The tab key sticks. Everything else seems ok. Nice cosmetic condition, not beat up. It has a brand new ribbon and correcting tape. Also included is another type ball, cleaning brush, manual, 18new ribbon in box, and 1 correcting tape. This is a vintage tan IBM selectric elwctric typewriter for parts. Repair or restoration sold as is. The power cord is in good condition and tge unit powers up fine. The problem is that it is constantly rolling the paper forward as if the return button is stuck. The keys type bit a few of them get stuck for a few seconds when depressed before popping back out. It looks fairly clean on the inside. The dust cover has a few small holes and stains. Comes from a clean smoke free home. We combine shipping.
