GBC Protech Falcon 60 - 60" Hot/Cold Laminator
This laminator has been in use at my sign shop until recently but since we rarely use the heat features of the unit we decided to replace it with a much simpler laminator that meets our needs a little better. This is simply too much machine for what we're doing here. It's a very high end industrial unit that will do pretty much anything you may need from a laminator. The one thing I'll miss the most is the speed of this unit. It can be run at very fast speeds if you're doing cold lamination. Another nice feature is the roller lock mechanism which securely holds the media rolls to the spindles with metal cams that bite into the core of the tube. Very quick and easy to change out rolls with the swing out spindle arms. When using heat. There are cooling fans to quickly cool the media as it exits the machine. This laminator will ... moretake up to a 62" wide roll of media or laminate. It's runs on 220v power and the wheels make it easy to move around the shop. I went through this entire machine, cleaned top to bottom and lubricated chains with heat resistant grease. All functions work perfectly and it heats and runs at all 9 speeds. I heated it ONLY to what temp you see in photos, it reached the temp and the READY light came back on. Note: The 2 heat rollers(in front in pics) need replacing and I received a quote for complete resurfacing by a professional rubber company specializing in this procedure back east. I have not used the 5100 so I can't comment on it. I assume that it will have the same characteristics as the 5000L. This machine is missing the output tray. I have never used it on any of the other machines that I used. To me it was a nuance and therefore I never installed it. My finished products just fell on the table where they lay flat. When using the output tray on letter or legal size papers if you are using an output tray then part of the finish product is hanging off the tray and I would rather have my papers lay flat on the table. There is one of the rubber feet missing on the left front. READ THIS! The one thing that can damage a laminator is to run the pouches thru without a carrier. When purchasing a used laminator a problem could exist if the person using the machine prior didn't use a carrier and then the rollers get gummed up. When I bought my printing business. This came with it but I don't use it anymore. I paid $2200.00 for the laminator and 6 extra laminating rolls. I don't know anything about it. I only used it once. Everything works great on it but the tension rods needs tightened. When the two rolls are suppose to press together to laminate, it isn't 100% The tension rod needs tighten and I have no clue how to do that. I am going to be giving a huge discount on this since it is older and that the lamination isn't at 100% It can be fixed at no problem at all.
