Up for bid and starting at only $.99 is a three ounce bag of concentrates black sand that I got when I took my new mini high banker out to a local proven Colorado stream. I know there is gold in this batch as I saw it in the high banker as I was running the gravel through. I am not going to guarantee that you will find pickers or n uggets and I am not going to salt the bag. But I do know there is a fine flour gold in these concentrates. The streams are freezing up and there are some towns and cities that are putting restrictions on how much or even if you can do any panning in certain areas and streams. So I do not know if I will get back to the little pay streak that these concentrates came from. But I do know I had a heck of a good time as I was running the high banker and seeing the gold. The son of Joseph and Abigail Cleveland Bacon, was born in East Granville, Massachusetts in 1817. In 1835, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he engaged first in the dry goods, then in the iron, trade. He was married in 1844 to Julia Ann Page, daughter of Daniel Dearborn Page, miller, merchant, and owner of considerable property in and around St. Louis. Four years later. Bacon and his wealthy father-in-law formed the banking firm of Page& Bacon, Bacon being the active member. The success of this enterprise led to the opening, in 1849, of Page, Bacon& Co.s express office in San Francisco. The partners were Page, ... morehis son Francis W. Page, Bacon, Henry Haight, and David Chambers. Page, Bacon& Co. soon became primarily a banking concern, with branches in Sacramento, Sonora and Honolulu. Business flourished until January, 1855. VINTAGE 9ct GOLD RONSON BANKER PETROL FLUID FLINT POCKET LIGHTER C1937
The Ronson Banker was first introduced in 1937. This model has a 9ct Gold jacket. With the new standard fitment finished in dureum. This example is late 1940’s vintage and is in very good but used condition. The lighter measures 60mm high x 38mm wide x 13mm deep. The 9ct Gold jacket is engine turned in a very close cross hatched pattern. The jacket is engraved on the edge“Brian from Marina” on one end and“Harriet” on the other end in stylised lettering. The jacket is stamped 9ct and weighs 12 grms which at todays price = £115. The bottom of the jacket is nicely shaped and extends to form a rimmed base to the lighter. The mechanism works perfectly producing a spark. There is a little wear to the edges of the mechanism from use and pocket wear. There are no dings or dents and the lighter displays and works very well. Of all original manufacture ... morebut untested with fuel but will operate correctly when lighter fuel and flint added. Sm Vintage Dark Brown BANKER? Fountain Pen Wide Gold Checked Band 14KT Nib*Every fountain pen& pencil will come in a gold gift box! This is a great looking little pen. I know very little about this one as I'm not certain about the maker. But it is small and elegant. The nib looks to say, Banker, so this could possibly the brand of the pen as well. Length: 4 7/8 inches(closed cap; just slightly less than) 6 inches posted. Nib: This is a small gold nib with moderate wear. The patina is yellow gold but there is some darkening of the patina especially around the edges. The tines separate moderately when depressed. And return to a their point, which appears to be even(although the darkening is misleading and can make it look like they are not at first glance. The imprint is difficult to see because of the discoloration on the nib but appears ... moreto say, BANKER 14KT. The nib section will need a new bag as there currently is not one on it now, and so does not fit snuggly into the barrel. Barrel: The barrel is an even dark brown with no discoloration except in a couple of places around the barrel. There is no barrel imprint or maker's mark. There is a tiny crack at the beginning of the lever. And there is a stress mark around the barrel about midway down the lever. There is a black end cap on the end of the barrel. Cap: Cap screws onto barrel smoothly and accurately! It matches the barrel perfectly. There is no clip or maker's mark on the cap. There is a cap band that is extra wide with a unique checked pattern imprinted lightly in the gold patina with only minor discoloration as it is fading in spots around the very bottom in places(see pics. There is an engraving that says. CHM. Filler: Lever Fill Condition: The condition of this pen is good. The condition issues are as follows: There is a very small crack at the end of lever closest to the nib.
