Long time. I contacted many appraisers all over the US and ask them about this ammeter, but it turns out that no one ever seen one like this before. So that makes this ammeter one of a kind. This Western Electric Company ammeter was made late 1800's. The Ammeter is in good condition with some small problems; small crack on the glass and the scale over the years is faded out(I believe ammeter was sitting for many. GENERAL ELECTRIC ALTERNATING CURRENT AMMETER Type P-3 1944? in WOOD BOX
This General Electric Alternating Current Ammeter Type P-3 in a Wood Box came from the estate of a man who owned and operated a Marine Electronics business from the mid 60's until the late 90's. He also collected electronic equipment oddities. This unit was last tested and signed off in 1944 although I think the instrument is older than that. I don't know enough about this tool to test it to see if it works. I do know however that an ammeter is a measuring instrument used to measure the electric current in a circuit. The actual working part of the unit is very clean and in very good condition and looks fascinating as heck. The box is worn and written on and there is one split in the wood but it looks complete as you can see in the photos. It is beautifully put together with nice dove tail joints. Not a cheap box!
