ROLLER SMITH ANTIQUE STEAMPUNK RF AMMETER
This is a beautiful antique meter made by the Roller-Smith Company in the early 1900's. It may have been used with early wireless equipment. But being so old, information is scarce. The case is made from solid brass and appears to have been painted black. But most of the paint has been worn away over time. The glass window is free of cracks or scratches. The hefty 5/16" rear terminals are made of steel alloy and devoid of any corrosion and the heavy nuts and washers appear to be original. The diameter is 3-3/4" and is 2-1/4" in length. less terminals) The weight is about 2 pounds. This meter has not been tested. But the needle moves freely. Three Mile Island Ammeter - Last Inspection Date 12/5/78
Last summer I went to a church fundraiser and among the things for sale were a couple of pieces of testing equipment from the Three Mile Island nuclear plant and although I know nothing about ammeters. I bought one of them. We are about 10 miles from another nuclear plant so it kind of made sense that someone would collect such a thing around here. This is a Weston Model 901 ammeter in a velvet-lined, leather case. There is a red stencil ID on the front of the case that says"TMI Elec Shop. There is also an identifying metal badge affixed to the case that says"ES-26. There is also a bar code ID on the front of the case. Inside the front flap of the case there is an instrument calibration chart which has a date of 12/5/78 and was signed by"C. Frederick. The size is about 8" x 7" x 4" deep. I don't know whether ... morethis piece of equipment works or not. The leather case shows wear consistent with its age. Shipping by priority mail and I'll insure the piece. Superb Vintage/ Antique MOUNTED AMMETER With Shunts Manufactured by Evershed& Vignoles in the early 20th Century this ammeter No. 83867 has a cast metal case and dual scales ranging from 0 to 10 and 0 to 30 amperes. On the front is engraved: E& V Ltd PLANT C.M. 1076 I believe this instrument was used in the Evershed& Vignoles factory as I also have other items from the same source with similar labels. Cast into the rear of the instrument is MEGGER which has been used as a trade mark since 1903.
