This ammeter is almost a hundred years old and is in working condition. No plastic on this baby its all wood glass and metal. It has been professionally cleaned and is in remarkably good condition for its age. Not too many of these around. I have never seen one like this. The leather handle is missing from its age it can be replaced by someone that does leather work. It measures approximately 10×8×5 inch.

On Offer: A large 9 1/2" diameter Antique Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co. Direct Current Ammeter. An outstanding example of late 1800s industrial design. The gauge is serial numbered 119898 and registers from 0 to 300 amps. the case is 9 1/2 dia and 4 3/4" high and looks to be solid heavy weight brass. The casting on the face is first class work. The black finish is in very good shape. Patent dates on the front of the case are Oct 5. 97 and June 27, 99. I try to fairly and accurately describe any items I sell. But I am not an expert. Weston Panel Meter model 301 Ammeter 0-5 A DC 2-9/16" cutout 3.25" wide
This is a used Weston Model 301 ammeter. 1-5 amps DC. The panel cutout is 2-9/16" The meter face is 3-1/4" wide. There is some paint missing where the meter has been sitting on its face. There are no dents or cracks. The meter moves fine. The zero adjust works. This would be good for checking the total current in an amplifier. The meter is made of bakelite. With a brass bezel, and weighs 8 ounces. I don't have a current source(one that is regulated) So I used my LCR meter to make rudimentary readings: inductance is 7.4uH including the 6" long test leads(the meter doesn't have a provision for zeroing out the leads) resistance is 1.82 ohms. This is a really nice. Heavy, wood cased Weston 0-1.5A DC meter with a leather carrying handle. It has tags from Weston and the US Army Chemical Corps, as well as a calibration tag. a rather old type of meter but most recently calibrated in 1976) I tested this against a modern digital meter and found it to not only be working but surprisingly accurate! the digital meter showed 0.182 in my test setup and this showed more like 0.18) even so, as with all vintage electronics it is sold as-is and without warranty. This is a awesome antique. Very precisely made, great scroll work, I think still working, 1888 Weston Electrical Instrument Company made Direct Reading Mil-ammeter. Whatever that means it looks very scientific and built to last over a century. And guess what it did! Fits snuggly into the walnut or oak custom made box with thick leather carrying handle. The paper adhered to the door inside shows that it was calibrated in 1895 so I am sure it forks just fine. Shouldn't need another calibration for another 3-4 weeks. This measures 7.5x7.5x4" but probably weighs 10 lbs. It is absolutely beautiful. Nothing industrial has been made with such scroll work since. A real art piece. The needle moves freely as if floating on mercury. This would look great in any study or man cave. Have never seen another one like it before. I picked this up ... morefrom an antique shop in the middle of nowhere back along a country road in PA. You really must hold it in your hands to appreciate the fine craftsmanship.

Two Matching Greibach Instruments Panel Meters, Ammeter & Voltmeter
These two matching panel meters are historically unique and quite large. They were made by Greibach Instruments and weigh 11 lbs. each. The DC ammeter is a model MCD-700-1(R- 0.005 ohms) with ranges of 5. 10, 20, and open. The AC/DC voltmeter is a model MCA-700-1(R- 1.000 ohms/V) with ranges of 15, 30, 45, and off. The stickers. Which were left intact, are from NASA, a local university, and a calibration dated from 1972. The analog readings are read from a vertical beam of light projected from the rear of the meter. The lamp from the the ammeter is a GE 82. Which operates at ~ 6 volts. The visible face of each meter measures 8.5 x 5.38 inches. Each of the meters extends almost 12 inches behind the surface of the panel when mounted. Four machine screws. Two on each side, are still in place for mounting the meters. If the meters are to be used ... moreunmounted, each meter has a circular bump located in the bottom rear to support it and hold the face vertical as shown in the photos. I have no attempt to operate these meters. Nor will I guarantee them to be in operating condition. They are rather amazing just as they are. Bookends?
