a old D. C. milli-ammeter- made by Mallory Electric Corporation- the handle is made of wood- total length 7 1/2" and the width is 3" as found so need to be cleaned- I don't know what it was used for. This is a handy device for any electrical workbench. It is a DC ammeter with a choice of 5ma. 50ma or 5A scale. It is shown reading the current draw of a 6V6 in a small console amp. It would also be perfect for all those early Audio Research amps that used 6550 biased for 50 ma draw. With those amps, set the current draw for just under 50 mA on the 500 mA scale, then fine tune up to 50 mA using the 50 mA scale. If you want a second unit(it makes sense if you're setting bias for a pair of tubes in push-pull) shipping on the second unit is free.

It has been mounted in a custom black(Bakelite) case with probe jacks on the front panel by someone back in the day. Works great. Just tested against my own DMM. Meter stores nicely inside wood box. Wood box has super cool vintage patina. The original leather strap is brittle and one end has broke off. The slide cover of the wood box has the original paper label on the back. The paper label is marked with the date Jan. 24, 1908 as the date it was calibrated on. This is for a Weston Electrical Instrument Corp D. C. Ammeter Model 45 patent date 1901. This was calibrated in October 27. 1919. I hooked up a battery and the meter registered a reading. This is in a heavy oak box without the leather handle. Clasp are in very good used shape. This is 8" by 8" by 4 1/2" and weighs 10 lbs 7 oz. It does have all the rubber grommets on the feet. There are a few small pieces of veneer missing or loose. Once screw cap is cracked. Please review photos and they are part of the description.
