We are not familiar with the use of these instruments so cannot tell if it is in working condition or not. But the pieces that look like they ought to move actually move nicely. There are four extra pieces in the case, three look like weights with markings reading 5.5, 10,and 15. Another piece looks like a small battery with a lid on it. It is marked 93. A depression in the case indicates a missing piece, we don't know what it might be. The red satin lining on the cover lifts to reveal a'secret compartment' We wondered if there was one on the lower side and tried to lift it, but that doesn't seem to be meant to happen. The outside of the case is labeled"Professor Schiotz's Tonometer" and the inside has something written on it, though the letters are faded, the impression remains. What we can make out is"N.
