There are a couple of extra inscribed lines near the initials. As well as a few dings, flaws, errors here& there. Note the base. FAMILY MEMBERS SAID THESE WERE MADE BY THEIR GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF OHIO THAT LIVED IN THE UHRICHSVILLE AREA. THESE WERE MADE IN THE MID TO LATE 1800'S. Extremely RARE Grand Ledge SEWER TILE Folk Pottery COWBOY ASHTRAY
This Cowboy Ashtray came with a great collection of GRAND LEDGE sewer tile items I recently acquired. Several of which are pictured in the book"Cast In Clay" by C. Dewhurst on Grand Ledge folk art pottery. This ashtray is marked in marker on the bottom with the name of Grand Ledge Michigan folk potter"Wahneta Van Wormer 1947" A similarly marked piece is pictured in the book on Grand Ledge sewer tile(see pic) As far as I know, these are the only two items like this. Documents at the Grand Ledge Mi. courthouse show that Ms. Van Wormer was born in Grand Ledge on Feb. 24, 1918, and later lived in Sunfield Mi. a small town adjacent to Grand Ledge. This piece measures 11-1/2" x 4-1/2" wide x 5-1/4" tall. Vintage Viking Sewing Machine Tested Strong Sewer
Fully Functional Free Arm Viking Sewing Machine. Cleaned, lubricated and tested. I used it briefly to repair a 6oz dacron sail and also made straps sewed to a convas cover. Tested on 10 oz Sunbrella(canvas) using V69 thread. 12 needle on 2 ply and V92 thread. 14 needle on 4 ply and sometimes 8 ply on corners(see photos) The machine is only 20 lbs and easy to carry around and uses Std 15x1 needles. This is a class 15 rotary shuttle mechanical automatic zigzag sewer. The upper selector is stich width(zigzag) and lower selector in stich length. The upper selector also specifies type of stich(see test patterns on photos) The high shank foot is plastic and could use replacing. I have included a couple of bobbins with the bobbin case that are different than other class 15 machines. The bobbins could have a slot to get a more direct drive in the ... morebobbin winder. Never responded to my emails, and did not respond to ebays reminder to pay. This will be the last time it will be listed, and I lowered the set in price so it will sell. It is an early brown saltglaze sewer tile stoneware storage jar crock that I believe may be a piece of Texas stoneware pottery. You will probably be able to determine if it is a piece of Texas stoneware when you view the pictures. Tan clay color is showing on the unglazed bottom and you can see on the inside that it is a piece of hand turned hand thrown stoneware. Top sides slant outward so it could be covered with a tied on piece ... moreof cloth, and it was probably used for pickle storage. Great colors with some lighter colors in the glaze on one side and nice bumpy saltglaze finish. There are a couple of shallow chips on the edges of the rim and it has some visible manufacturing flaws that are typical on early utilitarian stoneware. The top is slightly warped being a little bit taller on one side and lower on the other side. There are no other chips except for the ones on the top, and no cracks or repairs. It is a very clean piece with no film or residue. Measures 7 1/4 inches tall by 4 3/4 inches wide at the top. Rare and b eautifully detailed antique sewer tile figural stag desk set. Molded in coarse red clay with incised details. This is an Ohio piece dating to the early 20th century, and it comes from the renowned collection of Jack Adamson(Ohio) Author of The Illustrated Handbook of Ohio Sewer Pipe Folk Art. 1973. What an am azing piece! I've seen plenty of sewer tile lions. But never a st ag. The top of the desk set is incised"R.R. Romig" under the glaze. And the bottom is incised"H Roth. Also on the bottom is"B374. The stag is well-proportioned and has lots of great features, including incised fur, a set of antlers, eyes, ears, and hoofs at the ends of his legs. He is resting next to a wonderfully molded tree stump with a highly textured bark. This is a heavy, hand-molded piece made of solid clay, and weighs 4 lbs 11 ... moreozs. That's as heavy as a typical antique cast iron doorstop. It measures 9 1/4" by 6 1/2" by 4 1/2" tall. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, hairlines, cracks, or repairs.
