Connecticut in 1868 when Linus Yale, Jr. and Henry R. Towne(who had worked for William Sellers& Company, machine tool makers in Philadelphia) formed the Yale Lock Manufacturing Company. Towne was only twenty-four when they began together and three months later, Yale died. Originally, the company manufactured locks but in 1878, it began making chain blocks, hoists, and later cranes and testing machines. In 1889, Towne purchased the rights to Thomas A. Weston's Triplex Block, a variation on Weston’s differential pulley block, which he invented in 1854. In 1920, Yale& Towne acquired C.W. Hunt, manufacturer of industrial platform trucks. Within the next three years, the company redesigned the entire line. The company moved this division to Philadelphia in 1931; they set up shop in Bridesburg. Two years later. It acquired the Walker Vehicle Company, manufacturers of electric trucks and electric automobiles. 2 In 1938. Yale& Towne introduced the first electric sit-down fork-lift truck. 3 Yale& Towne relocated its facilities to a newly constructed plant on Roosevelt Boulevard in 1948. Two years later. They added LP gas, gasoline, and diesel-powered trucks to its line. The company was acquired by Eaton Manufacturing Company in 1963

Stockwells' patent, July 19th. 1892, this item immediately caught my eye due to it's high quality, beautifully finished workmanship, very similar to a high grade pocket watch. Showing this to a local watch collector, he wondered if the American Waltham Watch Company may have had something to do with the design and manufacture, and if anyone does know if there's a connection with Waltham, I'd be interested in finding out. It measures approximately 1 1/2" x 3 1/4" with bright nickle finished plates with fancy damasceening. 1892 Yale & Towne Vault Door Time Lock Antique Clock Timer Safe Timing Device
Selling off all our collectibles and family hoarded stuff. Up for auction is an old Yale& Towne Door Time Clock. It is a safe or vault door timing device with triple movement. Overall excellent working condition. I do not have the keys. Winding key or door open key. The wind key is pretty standard, I used a clock key to test each movement. That is why the photos shows the pointer not on zero. When the clocks run down they stop on zero. Then there is a little keyhole, top left, to open the door. I believe this key would be pretty easy to acquire as well. It is very heavy, easily over 10 lbs. too much for my small scale to weigh. As a Machinist I have worked with all types of castings over the last 30+ years. I operate large machinery 10 hours a day. This gives me plenty of time to resurface these antique postal doors. After a century of abuse and neglect, there is beauty lying just beneath the surface. This#1 size 1895 Yale& Towne is a perfect example, although perfection can never be achieved it is always a goal. I remove the old damaged surface and give it a new one. This door has a new lock and will provide years of dependability. The flat glass is almost scratch free. There is a small chip in a corner which cannot be seen from the outside. Comes with one polished and stamped key. A beautiful cabinet deserves a beautiful door. No coating has been applied. One Very. Very Used Eaton, Yale& Towne Industrial Truck Division Model EF 30H- 40-50 Electric Powered Industrial Lift Truck Manual with Separate Electrical Schematic(as shown in photos) Okay. There's no getting around the fact this manual is in fairly sorry shape with no cover or binder, top page loose, side written on with a marker, dirty pages, yellowed, dog earred and just plain hard used with a bad case of the uglies. However if you have one of these electric tanks floating around your shop and it takes a powder on you and you don't have a manual, well then the shape of the manual goes out the window if it'll help you get'er running again. Been there. The book actually contains three manuals in sections: Section A covers general parts Section B covers operating instructions Section C covers maintenance The combo manual ... morekinda makes up for what the manual lacks in looks. Kinda. Oddly enough. The only thing the poor old book doesn't do is stink.
