Vintage Flashgun The Pistol Flashmeter Magnesium Ribbon Holder
THE PISTOL FLASHMETER This vintage item found in a box of antique cameras and is a small pistol shaped container designed for the holding of magnesium ribbon strip and has marked instructions for the aid of the correct length of ribbon to be used for correct uniformity of exposure when making gaslight prints or lantern slides. The tin can be opened up into 2 separate halves and the magnesium ribbon placed in and there is a wooden'trigger' wheel disc which when rotated pushes out the ribbon strip of magnesium. Marked along top with inches on one side and centimetres on the other. The directions read' project the ribbon by rotating the disc by means of the thumb and finger until the length required is obtained. The scale enables the correct length of pribbon to be measured thereby ensuring uniformity of exposure when making a number ... moreof gaslight prints or lantern slides. For continuous burning the ribbon may be slowly projected by steadily rotating the disc. Please see my other vintage auctions- I will combine postage if more than one item bought.
