DESCRIPTION: Antique railroad Pyrex jar for providing battery power to railroad signals where electric was not available. Clear glass jar is marked with raised letters"Pyrex TM REG US PAT OFF Made in USA 50006" Lid is white porcelain marked"Edison Made in USA" Jar was used to mix caustic soda and battery oil to produce current. Jar is 13 1/2" x 8 1/4" x 6 5/8" with indented handles or grab spots on each side. Lid is 5 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 1" and on bottom side is the number"BP39752-2" While the jar or lid is not marked Western Maryland Railroad anywhere. They came from the home of a retired WMRR worker where over 40 items were removed with the WMRR or WMRY mark and no other railroads. CONDITION: Used. No cracks in jar, small chip on top inside rim, light wear to outside, needs cleaned, ... morelid good with no cracks or chips, overall jar and lid in very good-plus condition.
