Up for auction is a vintage fishing tackle box with divided tray and brass hardware and corners. Likely made by a craftsman or in a shop. Rather than factory made. The case weighs a bit over 7 pounds, and measures 13 7/8" long, 7 5/8" high, and 8 7/8" front to back, approximately. The hinges, handle, corners and latches are brass, as are the small wood screws. The handle appears to have been a later replacement, maybe heavier duty, with steel screws. Some aging and patina to the metal. The wood appears to be possibly fir plywood, a common material in this area(Pacific Northwest) The tray has eight compartments, with six dividers made of thin masonite. The tray is 2" deep, and each divided area is approximately 2 7/8" x 3 1/2" Since these dividers can be easily removed, you can reconfigure the tray to fit special ... morefishing plugs and lures. One on the left side of the lid and one on the front side, each goes from the rounded lip of the lid upwards to where the lid mushrooms out. Neither compromises the lid integrity(there is no spreading or other issues because of the cracks) neither are easily noticed. I am not sure of the metal. The original finish as seen on the bottom has worn away on the top leaving a bronze or brass metal. Patina is original and has not been cleaned. I'm uncertain if the decorative collar is cast brass or bronze. It's a beautifully crafted relief with brackets, free flowing acanthus plants and Greek Key border. The lamp is controlled by a key shaped turner which moves a long ratcheted mechanism and a thumb knob on the opposite side as shown. Both the key and the knob are frozen in place and the mechanisms do not move. The long cylindrical brass reservoir is marked on the bottom as follows: GAGNEAU 115 RUE LAFAYETTE, CI DEVANT R. D'ENGHIEN and the number 19686 Condition: Fair given its age. The cylinder has a few dings and dents especially around the bottom rim and the surface is discolored and scratched as shown. ... moreThe burner mechanism does not work. The central collar spins freely but I am unable to disassemble the parts so it will ship as shown. I do not know if the parts can be removed. The stem for the thumb knob is slightly bent as shown. Asian style Vase with upper brass insert and brass bottom black & iridescent
This Asian style Vase is gloss black with raised mother of pearl(looking) iridescent birds and flowers. I'm not sure what the vase is made of but I think it's a lightweight polymer. The top and bottom are brass. I'm not sure of the exact age but it has been in my family at least 20 years. It is missing a few of the raised pieces that make up the birds and flowers but it's barely noticeable as seen in the pictures. It is 10 3/4 inches tall and about 5 inches wide at the widest point. It is in pretty good usable condition in my opinion. It has some scratches. Scrapes, dents and dings from use. The lid snaps down tight and has minimal wobble in the hinge. It sparks with the flint inserted and only needs fluid to light. The insert has some scratches scrapes dings, dents and there is some surface rust on some of the steel parts. The close-up pictures are the best description of the overall condition, but if more information is required please e-mail prior to bidding. This is a neat old inkwell. It is a heavy one. I would guess all brass. It is 4 by 4 inches and is 3.75 inches tall. It is all in great shape, and comes with the original porcelain insert. Miniature Rubber Tire Paper Weight/ Ashtray With Brass Insert
Miniature rubber tire paper weight or ash tray. Goodyear truck tire advertising piece from very early in the 20th century. circa 1910-1915. Before balloon tires they were manufactured with solid rubber and very little tread. The miniature tire measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 inches tall Most of the later miniature tire ash trays had glass inserts but the brass insert with cigar rest and match safe make this early example unusual and desirable. Tire salesmen would give the ash trays to tire dealers to put on their sales or service counter to promote the tire brand. This piece is in excellent condition. It does have a small cut or scrape on the back edge which is visible in the pictures. The rubber has some surface age cracks. The brass insert is in excellent clean condition. Our memory of this being in the family home goes back at least 25 years. Absolutely gorgeous art deco style brass peacock fire screen/insert. Very heavy solid brass. Lots and lots of intricate detail: notice the amazing cameo. Unlike many. It is completely intact- it has the side bars that drop down to hold the fans in place when closed. This is a real vintage beauty. Of course. As with most vintage items that have been used and loved it does have some signs of wear, please expect to see some minor scratches on the fans that have been really hard to avoid when opening and closing( on new items we would probably call that a design fault! Antique Solid Brass & Albaster Book Box Pine Insert Box Rare Extemely Heavy
Up for bid an antique box with a pine wood insert box has no nails dates from the 18th c according to previous owner it's from Europe and it can be used as a unisex jewelry box or trinket box it measures 4.5 LXclose to 5in W the hinges are really rare with floral motif embossed in the metal it's quit heavy the metal is solid brass and it is painted in gold looks like pages of a book it's unique and the top has either albaster or marbel I didn't find any marks but it has felt in the bottom and I will not tear it to check any other marking etc. Thank you so much for checking out my items the best for the holidays to you and your family
