These antique type trays are one of the most useful and decorative objects-I have several around my own home for various uses. This tray does not have a makers name like some. Only an old label that says"Typewriter" This tray has a very nice dark, dramatic patina. As it had been sitting in an old barn for many years, I cleaned the worst of the dust and grime out of it and is usuable the way it is but it could certainly benefit from some additional cleaning(mild soap and warm water) and even some oiling to bring out its color even more. It can be hung on a wall or laid in a drawer to store jewelry, beads or whatever. There are a few small surface cracks throughout but none that imperil its stucture in any way.The tray measures 16 1/2" x 32 1/2" outside dimensions. I do not know the age but I did but it off Ebay about three months ago when my Mom moved in wit us and I was redoing her room. This was one of a few pieces I had bought that I never used. It measures 121/2" high X 9" at it's widest point. It is very heavy weighing almost 4 pounds! The mirror itself is 5" x 6" It is a striking addition to any room. Please don't mind the feet in the mirror. I had just gotten out of the hospital from an outpatient procedure on my back and I was still a little tired. Unusual and sweet antique pressed glass. Brass and weighted(plaster? bottom pin tray or bowl. Might have been part of a fancy desk set too but I think more likely a jewelry container for a ladies dresser. NO DAMAGE to the glass but there are some faults of lines in the flat surface that were part of the manufacturing process which just gives it more character as part of it's age. No chips. No cracks, no repairs seen. No markings found. Brass is unpolished and has a few mild areas of tarnish. I have not cleaned or polished this. I don't see anything that should not polish up nicely if that is what the new owner would like to do. Heavy at 1.13 pounds unpacked weight. Base is approx 4 3/8 inches in diameter and total height is approx 2 inches or a hair taller. An unusual piece and very pretty and quite usable for anything to jewelry ... moreto paperclips. Small 1880 Art Nouveau oak box with divided tray - Dennison's Jewelry Cleaning
Congratulations! You've discovered something special to add to your collection! Lovely solid oak(front piece is tiger oak) fingerjoined box with all original hardware. It has a slightly domed top. And both the bottom and top are solid wood. Two hinges and one hasp. The thickness of the sides and top is 5/16" and the bottom is 3/16" thick. A label inside the lid identifies it as a Dennison's Jewelry Cleaning Outfit. It also offers instructions on using the contents. The box measures 6 1/4" long x 3 3/16" deep x 2 1/8" tall. The box retains its original warm honey colored finish with a slight gloss. The graphic on the label is Art Nouveau. It comes with its original divided metal tray that held a brush and soap. For your consideration is this mid-century 2-tier organizer/valet. Made of wood that appears to be walnut. With solid brass p ill ars supporting the second tier. This multi-compartment organizing tray can be used on the desk for office supplies o r on the dresser for jew elry and personal it ems. It is marked"Swank" on the bottom and as can be seen in the photo there are some scratches on the bottom as well. This piece is solid and in excellent condition. With no chips and no scratches other than those on the bottom. The bottom tray measures 17" x 5" and the top tray is 12" x 2-1/4" In order to provide cost savings on shipping it may be necessary to detach the upper tray for packaging.
