Stained Glass Jewelry Box with Beveled Rose Patterned Lid, Brass Frame
This pretty Glass box is 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" and is 3 1/2" deep. It is made of pressed glass sides with a diamond of beveled glass with a stained rose in the center of the lid. The bottom is made of a piece of mirrored glass and the whole thing is framed of brass colored metal. It was made in Taiwan and is somewhat flimsy of construction as is evidenced by the repair made to one of the top corners. That being said. It is still a very pretty box that would be a useful box for holding letters and knick-knacks.

Description This is a large and very decorative antique jewelry box with a door and three shelves to display your favorite items. Box has amber beveled glass on the door. Sides and top. All the glass is held in place with loads of tiny prongs. Gold velvet inside is tufted with brass color studs. The fabric is not torn but there are spotted stains on the middle shelf and on the back- They are a bit lighter than they appear in the picture. I have not tried to clean them. The top has a filigree design with cherubs. This box is a beautiful example of craftsmanship that is no longer available. Box measures 11-1/2" tall. 8-1/2" wide and 4-3/4" deep. Unusual and sweet antique pressed glass. Brass and weighted(plaster? bottom pin tray or bowl. Might have been part of a fancy desk set too but I think more likely a jewelry container for a ladies dresser. NO DAMAGE to the glass but there are some faults of lines in the flat surface that were part of the manufacturing process which just gives it more character as part of it's age. No chips. No cracks, no repairs seen. No markings found. Brass is unpolished and has a few mild areas of tarnish. I have not cleaned or polished this. I don't see anything that should not polish up nicely if that is what the new owner would like to do. Heavy at 1.13 pounds unpacked weight. Base is approx 4 3/8 inches in diameter and total height is approx 2 inches or a hair taller. An unusual piece and very pretty and quite usable for anything to jewelry ... moreto paperclips. This is truly a unique little collection of vintage buttons. At a sale recently. I was quite surprised to open a shoe box and find this grouping of saved buttons. I have seen people put together buttons that are a set, but this is just large strings of buttons put on by color and size. The white string would be about 3 feet if stretched out and the brown string is almost 2 feet. I won't try to describe, but took lots of pics for you to see. This is a clean, nice lot. This is a vintage brass and glass trinket box. Recently purchased at an estate sale. I am unsure of it's age. It is unmarked. It measures 6 1/2" X 4 3/4" X 2 3/4" and it has a hinged top. In good, used and vintage condition with no chips or cracks, one of the hinges is broken as can be seen in the third picture. In addition, the brass could use a polishing. The bottom is mirrored and there are 4 ball feet on the bottom. The glass on the top is beveled and etched with a pretty mermaid. Still very pretty, it will make a lovely addition to any room. The box displays beautifully but it does have a chip in the top two layers of glass(as you can see the top layer has a larger chip than white case layer) The clear interior layer of glass is still intact- no cracks around chip. No other chips or cracks on the box! The flaw is barely noticable when displayed. Green and red smooth edges c oin pictured to give you an idea of size I finally was able to get to the river since last years floods a nd came back with buckets full of goodies. We were able to see for the first time just how much glass they buried as the river tore another chunk of the bank away. You can see a layer of glass 6-10 feet high buried into the hillside in at least a 50 foot long area. Who knows how deep it goes into the mountain. It will probably be there for another fifty years. Found a lot of lens pcs. car. Traffic lights, airport lights plus) reds. Teals, blues and yellows. Also found alot of opaque rock sizes pcs. 1 large pc bigger than a 5 gallon bucket. It took my husband and I some time to get it ... moreinto the boat. The story of this glass. Back in the fifties a glass factory was allowed to dump in several places along the river. The largest was a place later called Glass Hill. there have been several major floods since 2005 which tore apart the hill and it was totally under water. Raising the river over 30 feet. When it receded large chunks of glass started to appear out of the hill. Also a lot had washed down into the river and was hung up among the rocks. We actually search it like people search for gold. Smoother than most beach glass. I was told that the silt in the river is what gives some of my pieces the polished look. If you are a beach comber you know it is hard to find even a few pcs in a summer season. Since this was a dump site I am able to find large quantities although they may not be those perfectly round sea tumbled pieces. They are still great for crafting. Would be perfect for jewelry! Would make an amazing pendant! It measures 1 and 3/4 inches. By 3/4 inches, and is 6/16 of an inch thick! Antique Dresser Jewelry Box Opalescent "Fire" Swirled Milk Glass Victorian
Gorgeous true-antique. Opalescent, milk glass dresser box for jewelry came from a great-aunt's estate. It is an ornate Victorian oval decorated with flowers and roses on the box and the lid. When the lid is held to the light, the edges glow red and orange. You can see the opalescence in photo 2) The bottom shows a lovely'swirl' of caramel color in the milk glass. The box measures six inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches high. The lid is slightly domed) The edges of the bottom rim are rough and glassy, but this is due to the way it was made, not because it is chipped. There is a rough'point' on the lid on the edge of one flower but it is only noticeable when you run your finger around the point. Beautiful shape considering it is over a hundred years old! These large pieces are in fair condition- each has a"perfect side" and then some minor problems on the OTHER side.
