Girl Scout RING w/1920-1924 Type 2B MEMBERSHIP PIN Jewelry Amazing GIFT Custom
Where do I start? Here we have one vary rare Girl Scout Type 2B 3-Star. 4-Bar Membership Pin. Made only from 1920 to 1924, which has been cleverly fashioned into a custom-made ring. The Girl Scout pin alone measures approximately 3/4" in diameter. And the whole ring including the filigree backing is about 1 1/4" wide. Unfortunately I don't know much about vintage jewelry so I can't tell you what material the backing or ring are made of, or their age. But there are no visible markings or hallmarks and they are both silver colored. You can see from the side view that the original clasp of the pin has been entirely removed so that the pin will sit flush on the ring backing. The ring is approximately a size 7, but it is flexible/adjustable to be several sizes larger or smaller. Girl Scout membership pins were first introduced ... morein the U.S. in 1914. So this pin is one of the very earliest ever made. Very soon it will be 100 years old! This variety is also my favorite of the old styles because it looks very much like a modern pin. Just with shrunk down dimensions. Any pre-WWII era membership pins are very difficult to find in ANY condition and they are grabbed up quickly by collectors. While this pin has obviously been altered by removing its original clasp. It is otherwise in amazing condition for its age. And wouldn't this be a wonderful way to wear and display this great vintage pin to the world? It has been hand crafted from a solid s ilver teaspoon. Which I believe dates circa 1820. There is no date letter to the hallmark. I have crafted the spoon ring into a simple but elegant buckle style. Which together with it's beautiful bright cut engraving and highly polished finish, makes this the most unique item. The ring shows little signs of wear which considering it's age is remarkable. This spoon ring would make the most unique gift. And if you consider its 193 year old history. This is a very fun. Funny and unique ring. It was hand made by a silversmith on Sanibel Island, FL. It was purchased by me around 1980 when I vacationed there. Whenever I wore it I received many compliments. It is so charming after all. Hopefully the photos describe the detailing well enough because for such a small piece there is lots of it! From tip of the ear to the paw it measures 1/2" The face is beautifully articulated making it a wonderful little piece of art. It is a size 5. Great pinkie ring; a real conversation stater!
