There is no mark on the box but The intaglios are a spot on match with the Whiting and Davis intaglio ear rings and broaches I have researched. Having found no other Jewelry boxes like this any where ... morewith the intaglios attached it is hard to say if it was made by Whiting and Davis or the intaglios were bought from them for application to the jewelry box. None the less this is an outstanding vintage jewelry box with 4 intaglios mounted symmetrically around this wonderful vintage gold filigree box with a beveled glass lid. The Intaglios look like they have been colored white as well as having a purple blue green foil highlight. Accenting the intaglios making them look even more beautiful. Inside of box has a faded pink or red crushed velvet interior. Box is not signed anywhere I can find. Using the design of the Intaglios to identify as Whiting and Davis. They are excellent quality glass intaglios. Because of the obvious age and the faded crushed velvet I a guessing this is 24 karat gold plate since it is not tarnished much if at all. If you want it brighter you will have to clean it yourself. The beveled glass on the top appears to be rose colored. 3 3/8" H x 5" W including Intaglios. The maker is"The Glass Haus" There is a mirror on the bottom. It measures 4.25 x 4.25 and is 2.25 inches tall. The Metal is Antique Copper. I’m still listing some items from last week’s estate sale and auction. And I had wonderful luck at this weekend’s flea market- some really really unique items, you don’t want to miss! Oh. This one is drop-dead-gorgeous- my photos do not do it justice. What I have is a beautiful handcrafted glass jewelry or trinket box with its original paperwork identifying the maker, The Glass Haus in McHenry Illinois. The brochure that was inside of the box when I purchased it reads, Handcrafted Jewelry Boxes, The selection which you have received has been designed, ... morehand-cut, and assembled in the Tiffany tradition of copper foiling.the engraving has been cut by hand using a stone wheel, each design is original and not commercially produced. The glass used in your selection is called'Bankers Glass' Bankers glass is made by coating the glass with animal hide glue. The glass is then placed in an oven. As the glue dries, it chips or peels the surface of the glass creating a"Jack Frost" like finish. This particular piece is made even more special by the seashell handle on the top- it is cut in half, so that the inside geometrical design of the original shell reflects onto the mirrored glass base of the inside of the box. This box measures 4 7/8" square, 2 1/4" high to the side of the box and 3 1/4" high to the top of the shell. It weighs 1 lb. It stands on 4 fancy copper feet that raise it off the table. The solder that holds the glass together also has the same copper color, but it's accented with dark dark grey spots- I don't know if that is original, or tarnish from time, but it all WORKS perfectly. Vintage Glass w/ Brass Frame 3 Compartment JEWELRY Trinket BOX Etched Dolphin
Beautiful Vintage Glass with a Brass Metal Frame 3 Compartment Jewelry Trinket Box Featuring an Etched Dolphin on the Lid. This lovely trinket box has a clear beveled glass hinged lid. With an etching of a dolphin. All 4 sides are a very nice shade of teal green glass. The bottom interior is a mirror. The frame appears to be brass, it is non-magnetic, so I assume it is) with 4 brass ball feet. The frame does show a bit of patina that I am certain could be polished away should one desire. There is a fine hairline crack in the metal frame near the top latch. It may have been a repair at one time. It does not detract from the appearance of this piece at all. You almost need a magnifying glass to see it, but I did want to mention it. It bears a label on the bottom"HECHO EN MEXICO" Measures 6 1/4" length x 4 1/4" width x 1 ... more3/4" tall. It has a very nice dried flower arrangement in the top lid. The lid has quality soldered hinges and there is a chain attached to limit the movement of the lid. The chain appears to be made of stainless steel and it is the perfect length to position the lid in a very comfortable position so you can easily access all the contents without any interference. The lid when opened is a few degrees past vertical and it stays safely in the open position. It allows you to select and/or reselect the items that you want for those days that you can’t make up your mind on what necklace and/or earrings’ would be right for you with the cloths you are wearing ... morethat day. This box is very well made. The trinket box weighs over 1.5 lbs. All the sides and top glass panels are beveled(1/4 inch thick) and the bottom is mirrored on the inside. The trinket box is very well constructed giving this box a solid stance. Antique Tribal MOROCCAN Enamel 1321 Coin Clanking Jewelry Coral & Red Glass
I have acquired a large estate collection of Vintage Moroccan jewelry which was purchased years ago by a US resident living abroad for a few decades. Please check back often for other pieces as there are over 35 pieces in this collection. 9 inches. Weight: 3 oz. Additional info: G eneral region(Middle Atlas. Zaiane people) and uses colored resin in the engraved designs as is common. Some much older pieces from the area used fired enamel but nearly all of these hollow teardrop pendants use something between paint and resin, it's normal. This one is a fibula itself, though shaped like a pendant, and is just a variation, both styles of attachment were known. This one has at least one that seems to be an actual coin(and that should be some grade of silver again, maybe.800) but the others look like coin-copies of the type produced for use ... moreas jewelry pendants. Those don't seem to be silver-based, maybe nickel/alloy of some kind, but hard to say. As is often the case in North African jewelry, what matters to the wearer is that the piece have the correct traditional form and colors, rather than exactly what the materials are, so glass stands in for gemstones, coin-looking discs for coins, and paint or resin for enamel, but it doesn't matter. That it has the right elements and colors(protective, indicative of belonging to a given tribe) is what is important. This one also has genuine coral beads and I feel almost certain the chains holding the coins are silver because that's how silver chain was handled, with the wire twisted that way. The chain may be.800 or so, the body of the puffy part possibly less, like.500, but still it probably does have at least some silver in it. And again, the back is nicely decorated and in general it's not dented or crushed(which many of the old ones were, being hollow)
