Scratches and chips but they are still in good working order. These are the clam shell type which clamp over the cable. These are three different pairs of ferrite clam shell filters. Loop wires through the clam shell and it reduces RFI. EMI, Surges, switching power supply noise, fan motor hash, and so-on. I heard motor noise. In the speakers, from a fan in my Nakamichi AV500. A 0.01uF cap across the DC feed wires and one of these and NO noise. The power supply feeds in any AV equipment will benefit greatly from these. These are the same design as Audioquest ferrite shells that sold for $50 a set. The Audioquest had identical appearing ferrite pieces in a red shell- and their brand name. I loop AC power cords through this type Ferrite Clam Shell to kill lightning surges.
