Here is a nice Detroit low tension ignition coil. This coil like all low tension coils is meant to be used with an igniter and will not fire a spark plug. There is a slight crack in the one end and end cap. It produces a good hot spark and is ready to use. 7" Long. 3-7/8" wide, and 4-3/8" tall Hot Will work on 6 or 12 volts If you pick this part up at my house 7.25% sales tax will be added to the purchase price. If it is shipped or delivered out of state then there will be no sales tax. If you have the proper exemptions then also there would be no sales tax. This is a real nice original DETROIT COIL COMPANY buzz coil. Very nice. Solid, straight coil. Wood is in great shape. Tight seams with no seperation or warping of the wood. 100% complete and has all its thumb nuts. Tested it and it throws a great spark. Points are good and thick yet. Nice looking decal on top. This is a Detroit Coil Company model F7996 spark coil- it was found at an estate with antique telegraph equipment and other items of railroad memorabilia. Presumably. It was used in conjunction with Railroad communication as these spark coils were sometimes used for other purposes besides engines for the sparks they produced. I had previously listed this item and done some unsuccessful research on this item believing it was line testing equipment however a helpful E-Bay member pointed me in the right direction with correct identification. It is a Dovetailed oak box, measuring 6 inches tall by 3.5 inches front to back by 2 3/4 inches across. It has substantial weight to it(about 2.5 pounds) and there are screws in the back. I believe there was some kind of battery inside at one time- I opened the box and the inside is now filled with some black solidified substance. Or maybe that's what has always been there for conduction? I don't know. There is some staining- scratches to the box consistent with age. It is definitely a statement piece, and a curiosity.
