Offered here is a lovely hand tooled leather trim wicker creel. It was made by the late Bob Greiger of Seattle. WA. It is in excellent condition with trout, eagle head and stars embossed on both the creel and leather strap. The number 3 is embossed on the back. The creel measures 13-1/2" across the bottom and 7-1/2" high in the front and 9" in the back. As seen in the pictures, there are 2 3"x5" snap pockets(also tooled leather) on the front. I do not know the history behind this creel. I am not a collector and obtained the creel as an art piece. It truly belongs with a collector or lover of fine fishing items. I can tell you that this is on a Suede Leather piece that measures almost 27" tall and is 11" wide. A lot of it is tooled and then colored in. It is wired at the top to a piece of Cactus. Cholla I believe. This is very colorful and the color is very vivid and bright! I have for auction this very beautiful and extremely interesting antique box. I would think it will date to the late 1800s, it was found on an antique market here in the South of France, it has been constructed in wood and covered in a red/brown leather, then tooled in gold with the Imperial Napoleonic bee's within a very beautiful and intricate border, to the centre there is a mount again covered in tooled leather with the N symbol for Napoléon surrounded with laurel leaves and topped with a crown and trailing ribbons, when you lift the lid, you see the interior is beautifully lined in emerald green watered silk, on the edge of the boxes interior it reads in gold: Marquise de Sévigné. There is a key that came with this fabulous box that turns but nothing happens, possibly it is not the original key. Judging on the shape ... moreand size of the box, I wonder if it was a glove box. This box is amazing quality and patina, I cannot help wondering if it possibly was commissioned for one of the Bonaparte family, Who Knows? The box has a wonderful patina, there is wear to the leather and places where it is lifting, but this is commensurate with it's age and is part of it's charm, the box is good and strong and very usable today for many uses, jewels, sewing items, I see it as a desk tidy, displayed on a business/gentlemans desk, just imagine the interest and conversational value this box would have. It measures wide approx 30cms or 11.75" by 13cms or approx 5.25" and deep 6cms or approx 2.5" Please feel free to ask questions, I am selling with a low starting price without reserve. The leather is well above average quality, very soft and supple with stitching and black finished edges. All the leather is tooled which is a unique feature on a show halter. The silver is marked Tristan Mexico on the backs of the tips and the engraved side pieces your stud chain runs through. Vintage Tooled Custom Western Charro La Moderna Saddle. 1940's NO RSRV
The item that you are viewing is an Vintage Tooled La Moderna Charro Saddle Made in the late 30's early 40's. I've had the saddle looked at by one of our local tack stores and I am told that the blanket is 100% Mohair and it alone is valued at over $200. I found a La Moderna saddle in a tack book and was pleasantly surprised to find that they are quite the collectible item. A similar La Moderna saddle sells for over $2.500(pearl inlay) The lasso/riata helms from the 20's. The framework of the saddle is in good condition with a couple of chips. The cowhide covering has come loose in a couple of places but it too is in overall good condition. All of the leather is still plyable and not dry. The saddle could still be used today in spite of its age. The stirrups are made of wood with copper. This saddle is certainly a piece for ... moreconversation as with my previous saddle. I haven't much history on this folder other than I bought it in a moving sale from the daughter of the soldier(officer) from Morton, Illinois who served in the army in WWII North Africa and used or carried this folder. It might be personal gear? It is not marked with any US or army stamps or has any names on it. It is a soft 11 3/4" wide x 15 1/4" high tooled green leather folder with natural tan color inside the pockets(bad photos) It has some edge fading and edge wear. The leather is nice and soft and not stiff at all. It has 2 pockets. It is nicer than photos show it and I would rate it in very good used condition. I do my very best but I am not infallible. Really fun vintage large wallet. I am thinking that it was made in America. But it may have been in Mexico from about the 1950s or so. The wallet unopened measured 7 7/8" by just under 4 3/4" It has fun compartments on the inside- a place for an ID, a coin purse(with a snap that works, but doesn't snap completely) a couple of places for credit cards and an expandable long pocket. Wallet does have its vintage issues- Hand stitching is missing along the edges at the fold, and leather is worn along the fold and is not shiny there. Nice hand tooled design. This needs a good cleaning and conditioning. It has been a year since I last did so and it has been in my tack area since then. See pictures closely. Comes with no hardware snaps. all buckles are in great shape with only minor rust if any. Leather is supple in some spots and stiff in others. a good conditioning will solve that. This is tooled on most of it. Looks like a flower design on part of it. There appears to be some discoloration to some areas of leather. Here is a nice high quality vintage handmade tooled leather belt by once renown saddle maker John Egenes of Santa Fe New Mexico. This is beautifully detailed in florals and leaves. There is a thinner belt that weaves into slots and holds the buckle and belt closed with holes. The belt is wide measuring 3 inches x 35 1/2 inches. The thin belt measures 42 inches. Please note this auction is for the belt only not including the buckle. You can easily add your own buckle as it snaps in. You may have to add more holes into the thin closure belt to ajust to your waist. These Very Old Bags are Hand Made and Hand Tooled and Quite Primitive. The Leather and Tooling, including a Horse on one Bag and Flowers on the other are in great shape, the seams. not so much- There is evidence of several repairs and the edges are currently unlaced in many spots.
