VINTAGE BIGHORN SADDLERY 1972 15" FULLY TOOLED SADDLE W/ PURCHASE RECEIPT!
This absolutely gorgeous fully engraved saddle was made in 1972 by Big Horn. It is stock number 744. Custom made for the original and only owner of the saddle, prior to being acquired by this collector. The documentation that accompanies the saddle is the original Big Horn tag- noting the guarantee by the company, a letter on Big Horn stationery and in the original envelope, written and signed by the then Vice President of Big Horn instructing the buyer of the saddle which saddlery in his area could take his order in person- dated August 16, 1972. The original Big Horn sales slip/ work order which details the stock number and the additional customizations, as well as other purchases made on that date. October 31. 2008: Chattanooga saddle maker Big Horn Inc. has closed its doors after decades of manufacturing saddles, horse riding equipment ... moreand personal leather goods. A company spokeswoman issued a statement to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Oct. 28. She indicated that recent slowdowns in the economy had hurt the business. Many saddle manufacturers rely on credit to front the cash required to produce a line of saddles. The current credit crisis makes that financing tough to come by. This Big Horn Saddle is in extremely fine condition. The tree is solid. All leather is supple and in good condition with only minor use-wear. This saddle has been exceptionally carved with flowers and foliage over the entire saddle. The seat is padded, covered with suede and edged with a thick white leather piece. The 6 Sterling Silver conchos, 4 rear skirt corners, horn cap, and stirrup fronts are thick and deeply engraved with floral motifs and scalloped edges. The cantle and the gullet are made with a strong twist pattern of metal and leather(see photos) that is characteristic of this maker's attention to intricate and interesting saddle decoration. Western Tooled Show Pleasure Saddle Benchmark Semi QH Bars 16.5 17 inch seat EUC
BEAUTIFUL western saddle in excellent condition. Bought it from a friend who used it on a horse she had for training for 2 months. But it is too narrow for my chunky guy so I have only used it once. Fits about like a medium tree english saddle, and has a lot of wither clearance so could make a good Thoroughbred saddle. It has semi-QH bars and a 16.5-17" seat. The gullet measures 6" between the silver conchos on either side of the pommell, measured from the inside edges, and the seat measures 17 inches to the seam where the rawhide cantle meets the leather of the seat, 16.5 inches to the back edge of the seat. It is stamped 17" but the seat actually measures 16.5. I ride in a 16" normally and this one fit me perfectly. It is also stamped 2009, the year of manufacture. VERY comfortable, wide seat. This saddle is made of ... morevery nice quality. Thick heavy leather which will stand up to many years of use, and is fully hand acorn tooled, including tooling on the off billet, flank cinch billets, and flank cinch(tie strap and flank cinch connector will not come with the saddle) It has a darker leather seat with white contrast stitching and rawhide covered swell, stirrups, and cantle. There is a brand plate in the seat stamped"Custom Made Benchmark Saddle Custom Saddlery. The fleece is in perfect condition aside from some horse hair along the back edge, it has all saddle strings, rigging, and stitching in perfect condition. The only blemishes are as followed and are pictured above: On the right flap under where your leg rests there are a couple of darkened spots from being oiled but are very faint. On the right side of the seat there are some minor rub marks in the leather from a button on a pair of jeans, but the leather is not ripped or rough, just discolored. There is also a very small ding in the leather on the front of the seat on the right side, has been there since I bought it. Horn and tree are both tight and sound. Show Hackamore / Bosal Tooled Headstall w/ Cotton Mecate Reins Horsehair Tassel
This auction is for a nice western show hackamore/bosal with mecate reins. I recently acquired a fellows very nice western riding/show set of tack& equipment. Which included this hackamore/bosal. All of the items(saddle, spurs etc. which came in that set were of very nice quality and I have listed a few of the other items this evening as well. Although there are no identifying markings on this hackamore, I believe it to be of the same top quality as the other items in the set- some of which were custom made. I believe that the headstall of this hackamore is custom made as well, as the stitching looks to be hand done. It does not look like machine stitching and I think that you can see some of the stitching in some of the close-up pictures. There is a good chance that the tooling is like-wise all done by hand. The headstall has a nice ... moretooled design and the leather is in good usable condition. It is used and does show some wear. With the throatlatch showing the most. In the tenth picture I have tried to show the condition of the leather on the straps that go thru the buckles. They do show wear and there may be some very fine shallow surface cracks in the leather of the throatlatch, but there is nothing deep. Aside from the slight surface cracking of the leather on the throatlatch, the rest of the headstall is in good condition and it is all very pliable. The leather and rawhide bosal is 13 1/2" Total length. The widest inside measurement is 5 1/4" across. The white and black mecate reins appear to be made of cotton. They have some slight staining, but over-all their color is still pretty good. Where they attach to the bosal there is a horsehair tassel as seen in the 8th picture. The mecate reins are about 57" 4' 9" long. The mecate rope is 98" 8' 2" long. This hackamore is being sold"no returns" and I will be happy to send anyone any additional pictures that they might like. Great Antique WESTERN Silver Belt Buckle & Tooled Leather Belt 43" COWBOY OLD!
99 Cents Sale: Antique Western Americana Etched Silver Buckle& Tooled Belt* Up for auction is a wonderful antique belt and buckle. Featuring an etched silver(likely silver plate) western buckle and very old tooled leather belt. I'm not sure the exact age, but I'd say pre-1920s and likely earlier. Buckle measures 2 1/2 inches across by 2 inches tall(with a 1 1/2 inch belt loop) Buckle is just lovely, is unmarked and shows wear to the silver plate on the back. The belt is 1 1/2 inches wide and can accomodate a 43" inch waistline. Buckle is in good condition, and while the belt has lots of life left in the leather, it shows its age(as I've tried to show in the detailed photos) Really neat detail on the back of the leather belt-which is done in a traditional floral tooling pattern-is a maker's mark that almost appears ... moreto be a western brand. Dimimutive Mahogany Empire Ladies Desk~ Tooled Leather Top~Candle Shelves c1840
Offere d for sale is a Diminutive Mahogany Empire Ladies Desk circa 1840. This wonderful slant front Empire desk features a tooled leather top. Hidden compartment for inks and quills and slide out candle shelves. The top lifts to reveal a storage area with fake drawers with little ivory knobs. A lovely carved molding is around the bottom of the desk. Fully turned columns with carved capitals support the desk. Beautifully carved corner brackets can be found under each corner. Scrolled feet hold cupped rollers, hiding them from view. There are a couple of piece of veneer missing from the feet. Not uncommon for a piece of this age. On the inside there is an age separation in wood, again not uncommon and one candle holder has been replaced, please look closely the photos. These minor apologies, in my opinion, do not detract from the beauty of ... morethe desk.
