Hobart N-50 Mixer. Retails for over $2.000. It has a dent in the back. Visible in one of the photos, does not affect the function at all. Also has some tape residue and just overall needs a little cleanup aesthetically. Mixer only, does not include any accessories. Works perfectly. See the video: This is the industrial version of the popular KitchenAid mixer. Hobart originally made Kitchenaid-it was their consumer line. And they kept their industrial/restaurant grade mixers under the Hobart name. In the 1980's, they sold the Kitchenaid line off to Whirlpool who tanked the quality but kept the price in an attempt to make more money. Kitchenaids are still solid, but if you're kneading bread dough or sticky pizza dough, many people recommend the Hobarts-see. Hobarts use an actual manual transmission gearbox rather than a rheostat like ... morethe Kitchenaids. A rheostat just slows the machine down by reducing the power to the motor-the time when you need more power for sticky dough is just when the rheostat is reducing the power. By contrast. The Hobart gearbox keeps the motor running at full tilt and just gears down the speed so that you maintain power even in slower speeds. Hobarts motors are also much beefier than Kitchenaids. That's why Kitchenaids report their motors in amps. Not horsepower. Amps is purely the energy input to the motor, it says nothing about how efficient the motor is with that input energy or how much power comes out of the motor-it's just marketing speak. By contrast, Hobart reports their motor sizes in actual horsepower that the motor puts out. I bought this particular Hobart used off of eBay as a Christmas gift for my wife who'd asked for a Kitchenaid-I'd done the research. Knew why the Hobart was better, and was quite satisfied that I had an excellent Christmas gift. However. Rare Vintage COPPER 1955 KitchenAid Mixer (Hobart) 3 C original bowl & manual
KitchenAid introduced new colors in 1955. Including chrome and copper, the latter two were more expensive and fewer were produced. Manufactured by Hobart Mfg. Co. Troy, Ohio. This mixer is in very good condition. The power cord is fully intact with no cracks or breaks, does not heat up with the machine running. Dimensions: 13 1/2 inches tall. Base is 12 inches front to back and 7 1/2 inches across. The locking plate on the base is completely intact and the bowl locks securely into it. The beater clears the bottom of the Pyrex bowl as recommended in the manual. Which is in very good condition, the bottom front corner is dog-eared. The motor runs smoothly through all 10 speeds. The accessory access port is clean- with lubricant- and the securing knob is intact with no damage to the threads. The finish on most of the mixer is in good condition. ... moreThere are areas. Which I have attempted to show in the photos, where too vigorous cleaning/polishing with an abrasive, has worn away some of the copper finish. There are some fine scratches and marks on the finish which are from normal, expected wear on an appliance that was used but cared for and it is 59 years old. Serial No. 3C413299 KITCHEN AID MODEL- 3C 115 Volts. 1.2 Amps D.C. to 60 cycles A.C. The original Pyrex bowl is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. No scratches inside or out and the bowl locks securely into the fixture on the base of the mixer. This mixer is HEAVY for its size. The weight of the Mixer alone is 13 pounds 5 ounces. This is a nice vintage KitchenAid mixer in sunny yellow. It works on all 10 speeds but I have never actually used it. I had planned to keep it but I really don't bake so there is no point. It does come with a cover too. I forgot to add it in the picture. There is some minor fading to the color in some spots but I think overall it is in great condition.
