It was used to shred ginger in an Asian restaurant that is no longer in business. I cleaned it a bit and took the photo and video. What you see is what you get. Here is an antique cast iron with porcelain enamel commercial meat slicer. This came from the estate whose family owned the butcher shop in Shreeve. Ohio. When it closed, his equipment was put in his basement and has been sitting there for many years. I wiped this with a damp sponge and most of the original paint and labels are there. The blade is rusty and may need replaced. The cord must be replaced. I did gamble and plug it in and turn it on. This ran with a lot of power. I only let it run about 20 seconds, no sparks or smoke. This is a beautiful used Berkel 823 commercial 1/4 h.p. deli meat and cheese slicer. Formerly belonged to an owner/operator of 17 delis in and around Chicago who told us it was purchased as a back-up unit in case something went wrong with a slicer in any of his stores. He didn't think it had two hours use on it. But told me it cost a young man his job when the boss found out the kid cleaned it while wearing his school ring, lightly scratching the surface. It is very clean for having ever been used. When disassembled, the blade looks almost new except for a tiny spot where food or moisture must have remained and etched the surface. See close-up with pen tip in photo. This in no way affects the use of the machine(as shown in the pictures of finely sliced overcooked beef) which we sliced paper-thin in a manner of seconds, having never used ... morea slicer before. Clean up is a snap, and the built-in self sharpener guarantees you always have a sharp blade. The photographs are the best description of this model. There is a bit of oxidation on the metal in some areas. The under carriage(see photo) has some oil build up from over the years. Could use a good cleaning. Degreasing and re-oiling. Rare antique Hobart Commercial Meat Cheese Slicer Model 311 Countertop Works
Super rare Hobart model 311 meat and chesse slicer. These were made in the 1920's and early 30's. They stopped making the manual in 1938. It is missing the upper hand shield and the original switch is broke but works 2hen plugged in. All knobs are present and works greqt. The slide is very smooth and operates like new. There is also a small chip in the blade. For it's age it is a wonderful machine and very rare to find in this condition. Due to the weight of 102 pounds I cannot ship. Local pickup only.
