I have up for auction a vintage. Used Winchester 1013 butcher type knife measuring about 9 7/8’ with a 5-3/8" blade. It says Winchester on the blade with the number 1013 near the handle. It has 3 brass rivets holding the wooden handle to the blade. The knife has been used as you can see in the pictures. The"1920" stamp on the obverse crossguard and blade bluing indicates the bayonet was subsequently refurbished and re-issued to police by Weimar authorities. 1916 German M1898/05 WWI Bayonet Butcher Blade Mauser 8mm Weyersberg Kirschbaum
The knife and scabbard have light rust throughout so look at the pictures carefully. I think the blade will clean up nicely if the new owner decides to go that route. I have two pictures of the wood grips. The LH side has some dents in the wood near the rear screw. The RH is very good. The spine is marked with a crown. A"W" and a"16" indicating 1916 production. There is a mark below the"16" that I can not make out, but I believe the mark should be the Royal Cyper of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Prussia. The maker's name is Weyersberg Kirschbaum of Solingen, Germany. There is also a"540" stamp by the maker's name. The blade is 14.5" The scabbard looks blued. It does not have any dents. Up for auction is an original WW1 Imperial German model 98/05 Butcher bayonet for the Mauser rifle. Blade measures 14 1/2 inches long. The blade has never been sharpened and is nick free. There are some areas of light pitting on the blade. The wooden grips are old homemade replacements. The pommel button works perfectly. The blade is maker marked DEMAG DUISBURG in an oval. Very good condition and guaranteed original WWI German 98/05 Mauser butcher sawback bayonet that is maker marked SIMSON& CO. SUHL on the blade and dated 1914 on the spine. Bayonet has the correct original and scarce early war features of high ears and made without a flash guard. Blade has original bright metal finish with a little bit of brown and gray and has been sharpened. Sawteeth are sharp and crisp. Remaining metal finish is original bright with some gray. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit. Lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has mixed blue, brown, and gray metal finish and no dents. A classic WWI German bayonet that is hard to find being a sawback model from the first year of the war. Will make an excellent addition to your collection.

An Original. WW1 Era, Imperial German Model M98/05 Butcher Bayonet and Scabbard, with an Unmarked Blade? The WW1 Era Imperial German Model M98/05 Butcher Bayonet is the typical issued bayonet for the German Soldier during WW1. This is the large version with the 14-3/8" Blade, fitted with the Wood Handle and swept back quillion, and proof marked on the pommel and on the scabbard. The bayonet is a bit unusual in that it is unmarked with a maker or date, however, it is proof marked on the pommel. Maybe a German lunch box special? The metal scabbard is proof marked on the body and on the throat of the piece. The bayonet itself, including the blade, is actually in Very Nice Condition with an Original, un-sharpened edge, although the point is a bit bent. The metal scabbard, however, has seen its better days, appearing to have been caught in ... morea rail car door! The scabbard finish is pretty clean, however, there is some denting and cracking evident to the piece towards the bayonet tip. The bayonet slides in and out pretty freely, so it must be more of a surface issue. There are no manufacturer marks on the bayonet, only the German proof marks for acceptance. Vintage Safety Razor- Gillette Open Comb- Wade Butcher/Durham Duplex Handle. Very nice Gillette Old Type Gillette open tooth comb razor matched with a Wade Butcher/Durham Duplex handle. My understanding is that people used to do this a lot. As Gillette Handle frequently broke, and the Wade Butcher double edge blade wasn't readily available. The serial number of the Gillette head dates to 1918. And it's in fantastic, like-new condition. This example has the thinner head cap, slightly milder shaver than the next generation of Gillette Old Types. No brassing that I can see. None. Mirror finish, all teeth are straight. The Wade Butcher/Durham Duplex handle has considerably more heft to it than the stock Gillette handle. It's wider, longer and heavier. This Sheffield beauty had been severely bastardized in its past but I am happy to say it has been saved and restored to shave ready condition. The blade is etched"The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor" and measures at 7/8. I've honed and stropped the razor to shave ready. Checking the bevels under magnification to ensure there are no blemishes that affect the shave. Important note for future honing: 1 layer of tape used on spine during honing process.
