Here is a lot of 5 Admiral Transistor radios NIB NOS-all work and are in good condition. A few needed some caps due to age. But all are fine now. One radio was for the Canadian market and the warranty info-long expired reflects that. Some have the original battery and earphone, instructions are included. Many of these you'll see a missing dtrip or have poor performance. These work quite well and seem to be from the late late 60s to mid 70s. Vintage Emerson 707 Transistor Radio And General Electric Am/Fm Radio
Both are untested. Therefore I don't know about their functionality. Look very cool and would be great for a collector. The Emerson 707 comes with it's original case, however, it is very worn and is actually broken. The radio itself has some wear but doesn't have any chips or cracks. Up for auction is a Westinghouse Model RPM5020A 15 transistor 5 Band VHF/FM/AM/MB/SW Transistor Radio. See below for performance of each band. I did not test the radio using batteries. When I opened it up. There was corrosion(see the label) I was able to clean it up and make it look good, I cannot be sure if functions with batteries or not. The radio looks well cared for with only minor signs of use and wear such as scratches on the exterior. Has a large punched metal speaker grille with the Fifteen Transistor Westinghouse logo plate. Intact slide rule dial and all the control knobs are in place. The dial light(the one that illuminates as you tune in stations) lights up, the indicator on top(near right side of handle as you look from the front) does not light up, I am not sure if it is supposed to or not. The pullout antenna sticks out 33+” ... moreWhen fully extended, it seems the last section is slightly bent, though still fully intact. The back panel locks closed– it houses the power cord. New ear set(in plastic) and new antenna(in plastic) see photos. The unit measures 12” wide x 9” tall x 5” deep. It also comes with a custom case made just for this unit(by a handyman I presume) The radio fits snuggly in the case which offers protection while not in use. Bands: UHF– do not seem to pick up anything in this mode. Perhaps due to television broadcasting going digital? FM– does not pick up any stations. 1958 EMERSON VANGUARD 888 TRANSISTOR RADIO ~ WORKING BEAUTY WITH LEATHER CASE
The Vanguard 888 is perhaps the most captivating radio in Emerson's"rocket/satellite" series from the late 1950s. Named after the Vanguard-1 satellite. The radio has some really unique features, most notable being the random-pattern grill, and the weird mushroom shaped plastic"sprouts" that surround the tuning and power knobs. This example is in superb cosmetic condition. Most collectors judge the cosmetics of these sets by first looking at the quality of the gold paint on the rocket and lettering. This set has really excellent paint. Both knobs are superb. The plastic prop is missing on the handle. But the plastic case of the radio itself is in excellent shape with no cracks. The battery tubes are intact and the radio works with good volume, and receives a number of stations across the dial. This is a vintage 1960's Flamingo PINK(or salmon) 8 transistor radio with the original box! You can see that it is in good shape for its age. YES IT DOES WORK. I have tested and cleaned it myself. Like with all my transistor radios let me tell you more about the condition: THE BOX- It is in good shape but has some all around wear on it. Just showing its age. THE RADIO- It looks like its missing the sticker on the tuner dial(its unfortunate yes) Both dials(tuner& on/off) are not dirty they were clear dials that Westinghouse painted white and is simply just the paint wearing. Mr. Thin Pocket AM/FM Transistor Radio w/ Original Case Working Condition The radio and its original case are in great cosmetic and working condition. The radio works fine and receives radio stations on both the AM and FM bands. Volume is excellent at normal listening levels. The telescopic antenna has no kinks or bends and is easy to extend or collapse in and out of the radio and the swivel is tight and keeps the antenna in position where you set it. The radio has no dents or deep scratches and the case is free of rips or splits. When I got this radio a few weeks ago. There were batteries in the battery compartment that had leaked. The battery compartment has been fully cleaned with very little sign of leakage, mostly shows up on the inside of the battery compartment cover as well as a little along the edge of the cover. LAVENDER TrueTone DC3050 2-Band Shortwave BAKELITE Transistor Radio ORIGINAL BOX
WESTERN AUTO This is a Coat Pocket set. Measuring 8 inches wide, and has several unique features worth noting. First of all. It a classic Reverse-Paint Japanese set, mold in rigid BAKELITE. Prior to the Transistor Age, portable Radios ran on Tubes, which generated quite a bit of heat. Bakelite is a Thermoset Material, meaning once molded it remains rigid, and does not soften like Thermoplastic Resins. Thermosets are more expensive, so as a material it was quickly replaced as cool-running Transistor Radios became popular. But Transistors became so prevalent, so quickly, that many manufacturers had little time to bring in new Molding Machines. So they did the obvious thing- they began making the new Radios with the older material. I personally prefer these older sets; Bakelite has a look and shine that thermoplastics just can't duplicate. ... moreAnd check out the COLOR! Lavender. Violet, or Purple Radios are quite scarce. This one has a gorgeous light color. Also unusual is the way the Leather Straps are attached right to the Radio. And not the Leather Case. This is the only set I've ever seen made this way. It works GREAT! At least on the AM Band it is loud and clear. NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS: The Shortwave Antenna. And Band Selector Knob are entirely missing. As this set itself appears to be in new, or nearly new condition, it's a mystery why this is so. Here's my theory: even today when you visit any Appliance Store you will notice something sad: thoughtless vandals just can't seem to resist stealing Knobs from Clotheswashers and Ranges. I'll bet this poor radio was on display at one time, and someone stole the Knob and Antenna right off it. Maybe they needed those parts, maybe they took them for kicks. The box is a bit rough. But LOOK AT THE PRICE! $53.90 was a small fortune in 1960. Note the parts were held into the box with ribbons. This radio has no chips. No cracks, no wear. The charge light does not come on. So I do not know if it would charge batteries or not. I do not have the ear jack. Some thread pieces gone from the case but does not affect the playing. Here is another refurbed Vintage 1960's Channel master 6514 8 transistor dual band radio. This one has the broadcast band. And a shortwave band. The AM band covers 540 KHZ to 1600KHZ. The Marine Band(shortwave) covers 1,8 MHZ to 4.2 MHZ. The radio receives very well on both bands. This radio will receive broadcast stations from long distances. The SW band you can receive Ham radio stations CHU time in Canada,overseas commercial Aircraft weather, and lots of foreign broadcast. Again I have replaced all the electrolytic capacitors. The radio has good clear, and great volume audio. The case has no issues. The radio comes with a leather case that is not all there. The Admiral works and has the box and instructions. The antennae is intact and undamaged. The box is in very good condition as well. The High Wave does not work but seems very clean on the inside.
