The Heathkit IT-22 Capacitor Tester is an instrument that allows the user to check capacitors without removing them from the circuit or. Of course, removed from the circuit. So, it is a useful instrument for"taking a look" on vintage equipment. Using the IT-22. A five-position switch is employed. Center is"AC OFF" At left is"AC ON- CHECK" for"SHORT" with its"TEST" ... moreposition and at right are the same positions for the"OPEN" test. The switch is spring loaded in the"TEST" position so as soon as you let go it springs back to return to the"CHECK" position. This switch action removes any voltage stored across the capacitor during the test. The operation of the IT-22 is simple but sometimes confusing because when the eye tube closes or remains closed. The test is"OK" but it reflects a negative condition(NO SHORT circuit, NO OPEN circuit) Before testing. However, make sure the power is off in the equipment being tested. This is a lovely rare antique piece of English Textile Manufacturing history. Whilst a practical piece of equipment. It is also(in my eyes) attractive to look at and an interesting talking point. This John Nesbitt instrument was used to measure the number of twists put into a yarn during the manufacturing process. The amount of twist in a yarn is critical for the resulting yarn strength. Stability and caliper, but also for manufacturing profitability. The greater the twist the lower the production rate. So this was an important Laboratory test for textile manufacturing. The yarn to be tested is held by the two clamps and untwisted by rotating the handle on the wheel. Until all the twist is removed. The number of twists removed is recorded on the rotating dial. The yarns can be untwisted in either direction, to deal with"S" or"Z" ... moretwisted yarns. All the parts of this instrument work correctly. Length 49cm. Width 16cm, Height 12cm Weight 1.6kg I have listed the date as 1901-1950. And I think this will be correct, but I have not been able to confirm the actual date. There are some numbers stamped on the base of the wooden plinth which may give an expert some clues. You are welcome to view the item before bidding if you wish- message me to make arrangements. All factory solder joints have been checked/repaired. ALL diodes have been replaced. Please check your tubes for shorts. This can be a touchy unit. It's true what you read online you may get into the habit of tapping the meter to get the needle to set. If you know of a solution I would be happy to incorporate that into the rebuild before shipping. This unit has been calibrated using a Fluke 87 for currents and voltages. Vintage Allied Radio-Knight RF Sweep Generator Description: Resembling a sleek. Mid 1960's business executive's briefcase, in both size and style. this decked out machine looks more at home in a mid-century office, than on at the electronics tech's bench. Very cool to use and look at, these are verifiably collectible. The appeal does not end there. it's the flagship Sencore tube tester- very expensive when new- not as popular as competitor's B&K models- and much more involved and capable. Sencore went the high road with aesthetics. And sold these back in the 1960s for huge money. They staged education seminars for technicians back then, showing off all of the advanced features the MU150 had, compared to other types of portables. Age: 1960's? Hickok Model 600A Tube Tester - working, partially restored.
You are bidding on a Hickok 600A tube tester. It is in working condition but needs to be calibrated. I purchased this earlier this year from a shuttered TV/Electronic repair shop. This tester was apart when I found it and was missing it's power cord. Case lid and screws and the 83 mercury rectifier tube. I replaced the power cord, some drippy wax capacitors and installed an 83 tube. I did not clean or calibrate- I have done MINIMAL work/trouble shooting on it- only repairing to the point of seeing if it was functional or not to sell. I have two other Hickok testers and this one reads lower than both of them. It could definitely use a good cleaning of all contacts and switches. Tube sockets are all tight, knobs are all there and original and meter works. Also includes updated, bound tube setup guide and operating instructions. Holds line ... morevoltage fine. As with all testers that use a mercury rectifier, it needs to warm up fully before testing any tubes. Case and tester show some wear around some of the switches, not bad, but enough to mention. Case is missing top cover. The price of these testers are ridiculous on eBay so I'm starting this one reasonably- with no reserve. Or buy it now and save the trouble. Summary: Used. Working, partially restored Hickok 600A mutual conductance tube tester that is missing it's top cover and will need to be cleaned up, checked and calibrated. This is a gorgeous tube tester. I used it to test several tubes after a thorough cleaning and polishing. All pots and switches were cleaned with de-oxit gold. The wood cabinet has been refinished using Mohawk satin lacquer. Roll chart moves nicely end to end. Will test all the important tubes including the old four pinners and the newer 12AX7's.
