Megger 500 volt insulation tester, vintage bakelite meter testing equipment
Megger 500 Volt Insulation tester Circa 1940 A vintage test meter made by Evershed& Vignoles ltd. In good condition with purpose made leather carrying case(from the crown markings this was possibly a GPO Post office issue) The Bakelite case is in good condition with just minor scuffs and marks and someone in its past has inscribed polarity marks on the front. I know very little about how this worked but the crank handle turns and seems to work fine. The meter needle is free moving when the megger is turned upside down etc. I believe these were used to test the insulation of electrical cables. You are bidding on a very unique torque tester or meter or calibrator. The tester weighs almost 20lbs is is mounted on a 8" x 12" x 1" piece of solid steel. The two larger meters have 1/2" heads and the smaller 200lb meter has a 1/4" head. There all have a wire that has a male printer type connector on the end. The wires will plug right into your printer port if your computer still has one. The cables are 55-58" long and appear to be in good condition. The connectors on the end of the cables have 200. 500 and 1000 printed on them. The base that the 1000 and 500 cables plug into are 4" in diameter at the base and 2" on the 2nd level. The case is in good vintage condition with some scratches and discolorations and has it's original leather handle. It also has a previous owners ID information stenciled on the outside. The latches and hinges operate smoothly. The usage instructions are still attached in the inside cover and in very good shape. The meter is a Weston Model 269 and in great condition as is the entire control panel with no cracks. All the controls turn smoothly. The test cables are missing.
