Wonderful brown crinkled matte glaze exterior. Green interior. Marked under very thick rich brown glaze. Great arts& crafts shape. This appears to be a fine example of what Sharon Darling describes in her book“Landmark Teco Art Pottery of the Prairie School” on page 60 of an original Teco matte green re-glazed in brown. Described…in most instances new colors were applied to the most popular shapes…the new colored glazes were sprayed over the green glaze of unsold pieces which were re-fired to make them more attractive. Such pieces are easily recognizable by the green glaze visible on their inner surface or by the crinkled effect that sometimes developed during the second firing. Excellent condition. Measures just over 3.75” height X 3.5” width.

Fresh from an old estate. The glaze is smooth as silk. And the unusual organic form seems to change shape as lighting and shadows change. I showed this to my Art pottery expert friend. And he said he had seen a very small version of this vase, but never saw a large one. If you know of another example of this form ... morein this size. Please email me and I will add the information to the listing. ITEM MEASUREMENTS This item measures about 6 1/2" x 7 1/4" x 7 3/4" This sat on 3 cones. Which when removed, took off a bit of the clay body and glaze. The three arrows are supposed to show where this sat on 3 cones. But the red arrows are not exactly in the right positions. The arrow at About 4:00 O'clock. Should be pointing at about 5:00 O'clock forming a triangle. There are also some flat flakes around the foot which are not visible from the sides. Like where the arrow at 4:00 O'clock is pointing now. Above: hand incised shape number. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This is in good condition. But needs to be washed, as it was in an old estate for many decades. This sat on 3 cones in the kiln. And when the cones were removed, they took a bit of glaze and clay body with them. One of these shows from the side. And is considered a manufacturing flaw, and is not a chip. There are a few flat glaze flakes on the foot. Which are not visible from the sides. I have been very fortunate to own several Teco pots over the years, but when I encountered this one, I knew I had found a very unusual likely unique specimen that I assumed was an experimental one. I have had this pot inspected by a couple important studio potters and they felt the orange overglaze was clearly just that a glaze. It appears this pot was originally fired with an antique green or matt green with charcoal patterns and then later fired with a likely uranium orange glaze. I have never seen another one like this, but I have been told that experimentation at this pottery did ... moreexist. It is stampd TECO twice. There are glaze crawl lines primarily in the bottom half of the pot, which are clearly original to the form and I have water tested the item and it did not leak. The orange glaze was sprayed inconsistently over the piece and fired, where the bottom half received a thicker than normal application causing these melted original glaze crawl to be produced. The orange in many cases is a bit deeper in color than what the photographs reveal. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR IMAGES. Any reflections or glare you see are strictly lighting from the photography gallery. Teco Matte Green Dish/Bowl
Vintage Teco Matte green bowl 7" in diameter and just over 2" high. As shown in photo there is a double Teco stamp. The bowl is in excellent condition with one small blemish on the bottom as shown in the picture. I purchased this bowl in 1998 at a pottery gallery in Chicago for my private collection. The blemish on the bottom of the dish was there at the time I purchased the dish. There are no marks or blemishes on any of the other surfaces. As I am in my senior years I am selling my collection.

Excellent Condition with a couple minor issues- a couple glaze flakes near the base(see picture#3) Still glaze under the flakes so probably happened during manufacturing process, hard to notice and not at all distracting. Also on the inside, there is two spots were the glaze did not take, definetly part of the manufacturing process. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Teco Four Pillar Vase with Bulbous Bottom
This Teco vase has been in my family for decades. I was told that it had a beautiful bouquet and was present at my Great-grandmothers wedding. It is 7 inches high and 3.5 inches in diameter. There is a hairline crack up at the top that wraps around to about 1/3 of the circumference. But when you have your children do the dusting at the age of 8, things get knocked over. This was my grandmothers. I was certain I had seen a Teco vase in this style. But this is not marked/signed. It is possibly Zanesville from the 30s according to a note I stuck inside it 10 years ago when I was more actively selling on ebay. HEIGHT: 6-3/4” WIDTH TOP: 2-5/8” WIDTH MAX: 3-1/8” WIDTH BASE: 2-1/2” WEIGHT: 1lb 2.0oz SIGNATURE: TECO STAMPED TWICE(BASE) Description& history: The American Terra Cotta and Ceramic Company of Terra Cotta(Crystal Lake) Illinois was busy making tiles and faience when the Founder. William D. Gates, decided to start making art pottery in 1902. He used molded bodies and matte glazes to produce high-quality pottery to compete with the likes of Grueby and Rookwood. He asked designers of the Prairie School(such as Frank Lloyd Wright) to submit designs for a new style of ceramics that would compliment Arts& Crafts interiors of the day. This medium sized vase is an example of just such an item; with a wonderfully organic shape this vase shows elements of Art Nouveau, Arts& Crafts and Prairie School design. Covered in a thick and tactile ... morematte green glaze that accentuates the melon-like bulbous base and gives contrast to the Prairie School buttressed handles, this vase exhibits the fine charcoaling of top-quality Teco production. Double stamped with the vertical Teco mark, this authentic beauty is in fine original condition, and will stand out in any collection of American Art Pottery. Condition: There are no chips. Cracks or hairlines. There are several very small touch-ups to the glaze that are invisible in white light, but show under a black-light(UV light) The largest is about 3/16" in diameter, and is on the top inside rim. There is one very small“bump” on the bulbous lower section about 1/32” that sticks up but is covered with glaze and is as made. The base shows three indentations from the firing tripod and one place where the removal of which took off an 1/8” section of the rim; also appears to be from manufacturing/grinding and not a chip. The base is stamped“Teco” twice in vertical fashion, and is filled with green glaze. The vase exhibits fine charcoaling, mostly in the crevices, around the base ring, and on the edges of the buttressed handles. This vase is in excellent restored condition, with

I believe. Based on other listings and research, that it is shape number 362 The damaged area is a vertically divided V shaped area as shown extending approximately 2 3/8" along the rim and downward about 1 3/4" at the center and was probably repaired many years ago with a good amount of darkened excess glue on the interior. No other damage Displays very well when positioned properly and is probably a great candidate for professional repair since the breat appears relatively clean with no real loss of material.

Matt green decorated vase. I am not sure who might have made this vase ~ could be Teco. Owen, Roseville to name a few. Kind of hard to see what is the actual pattern, put it looks like to me to be an upside down bell in one spot, curlicues in other spots, a shield with beading on it. No mark on the bottom as shown. Measures 6 1/2" tall. Alas. Being sold as is ~ as shown, there is a 1/4" chip on the rim. The spot on the side is not a chip, but merely a glaze bubble burst that happened at the factory. This listing is for a very nice Arts& Crafts era matte green flower pot with the saucer. It's a miniature piece. The pot measuring 2 3/4" high and the opening diameter 2 3/4" The saucer is 3/8" high and 2 3/4" opening diameter. There are no chips or cracks on this piece, just the typical hard water residue on the top edge from usage. The saucer is back stamped, but unfortunately, it is unreadable. It's so hard to find these smaller pieces in any condition, let alone with the original saucer. Perfect addition to any Arts& Crafts or matte green pottery collection!
