This has been relaquered or varnished and repaired sometime in it's life. The repair is to the top board under the seat that the legs attach to. It looks like it was cracked and glued there and then some extra braces put on it to increase the strength. It feels sound and solid and easily held my 300 lbs and you should have no problems with it. They are on the underside so do not show in use. I saw no other damage and everything is tight and sound.
