LATHE TOOLING, SOUTHBEND, ATLAS, LOGAN
This is a very handy oversized collection of tools that I use on a 9" Southbend. They are from a larger lathe and would not typically fit in a 9" lantern. I have made a custom lantern that fits perfectly in the steady rest of a 9" Southbend and holds these tools. The large boring bar holder is a# 9 Armstrong. The boring bar is 3/4" X 11 1/2" and holds 1/4" X 1/4" stock. The smaller boring bar holder is a J.H. Williams# 9. The boring bar is a Armstrong# 07-X. 1/2" X 8" and holds 3/16" X 3/16" stock on both ends. The cut off tool and the threading tool are both Armstrong. I found these larger tools to be ideal for bigger work without the need to overwork your lathe. I hope the pictures will fill in any blanks. Everything is in great condition. antique MANSON Miniature lathe, works, with box of genuie tooling
miniature ManSon lathe. Circa 1940s. When plugged it the motor runs, the original o-ring drive belt fell apart so I used a rubber band and the machine's spindle and leadscrew all work. Some metal surfaces has light rust, but looks like no real pitting has occurred. I've left it alone and haven't attempted to'restore' it as many have done. Nice original paint has some scratches but over all good shape, see photos. Included is the optional tooling accessory box which has some tooling. 2 face plates, collets, a little chuck, dogs and HSS cutters. Vintage Lathe Tooling, JH. Williams & Armstrong, Lanterns included, 12 pieces
Vintage collection from the archives. I did the best I could with the photo shoot in hopes to show all the details you may be looking to see. I counted the Valenite 1/2" x 6" indexable boring bar and the holder as 2 pieces. I have used all of this stuff on one of my 9" southbends and that is what the lanterns are made for. They are a perfect fit for the southbend steady rest. If you notice the two straight holders, note the size difference, the smaller one is a long forgotten part, it is a hand held bit holder for sharpening bits. I paid the price over time while collecting this authentic set but would be happy to get 20 bucks per tool for ten of your choice, then I will toss in the other 2 and ship them with free freight to you. South Bend B9 9" Lathe With Tooling Original Barn Find
Fresh from an estate tucked away in the corner for years is this South Bend B9 9" lathe as shown. I blew the dust off. Plugged it in and ran it to be sure everything works, which it does. You can see where the serial number is, I just wiped it off with a rag, so this machine will clean up nicely, it's coated in oil and grease, not rusted. No broken gear teeth that I could see, no signs of abuse, just a light crash mark on the cross slide as shown. It is wired for 120 volts, it could use a new power cord. Comes with bench. Light, 3 jaw, 4 jaw, faceplate, tailstock drill chuck, bits, change gears, right and left tool holders, wrenches and keys shown. Up for auction is a lot of misc. machinist related tooling for the mill and lathe. First there are 3 threaded hole layout lineup tools. Each have 5 threaded punches inside and they are 1/13. 3/8-16, 5/16 inches and made by Heimann Mfg co. Urbana Ohio. They have rarely been used. Next is An angle layout tool with no name and is very old but still works. It measures 2 1/4 long and fully extended is 4 3/16 long. Next are 3 vise jaw drill stop fixtures. They are home made by me out of aluminum and have set screws for clamps. Two have 1 inch wide space for that size thickness on the vise jaw and the other is 3/4 wide and 1/2 inch thick. Next is a Lufkin thread pitch gage no. C-36 60 degree and has 2 initials on one side but in great condition. Next is a Starrett no. 237 6 inch 3/16 inch wide scale with a 90 degree head 2 1/2 inches wide on the ... moreend that slides up and down. It has 3 initials on the front face. Next is a Craftsman Wiggler no. 4021 USA used with a shank od of.3695 and point length 1.937 inches and is in good shape. Next is a homemade Trammel set. It has a 12 1/4 inch rod that is 1/4 inch od. It has hardened points and metal screw clamps and rod but the rest is out of aluminum. The knobs are adjustable. The body's are 1/2 inch od. Next is a set of Brown and Sharpe adjustable parallels that start from 3/8 and finishes at 2 1/4. There are 6 parallels and the no's are 673-1 thru 673-6. The blue pouch has seen better days and the tools are used but in great working condition. Next is a Craftsman radius gage set that hardly ever been used. I would call it new but the clear plastic inside cover is dirty and I can't get it off. There are 24 pieces in this set and the gages are great. Next is a Starrett no. S565 punch set.
