FINE QUALITY ANTIQUE BOXES. This large antique jewellery box is veneered in exquisite Burr Walnut wood with fine brass edging to the exterior and two Bramah locks. The brass'A.X.M' monogram inlaid into the lid refers to the box's original owner in the 1870s. The interior is lined with burgundy velvet. Complimented by the rich gilded brass work. The main part of the interior is divided into five equally partitioned compartments along with one full-width compartment to the rear. A gilt brass-framed mirror. With filigree corner mounts, sits inside the lid. A concealed button drops the mirror forward and reveals a leather-bound secret letter wallet behind it. On the reverse of the mirror is a ruched velvet panel which opens out to become a stand for the mirror. The interior rims of the box are inlaid with gilded brass corner mounts; ... morethe front two being engraved with the provenance of one of the box's former owners. There are two interior push buttons on the left and right sides of the box which release small spring-loaded drawers from either side. These beautifully dovetailed drawers are constructed from solid Satinwood and are velvet-lined to accommodate smaller items of jewellery. Along with rings/ cufflinks in purpose made channels. There is a large pull-out front drawer. Made from solid Satinwood, which is lockable by its own independent Bramah lock. This drawer has a large velvet-lined area and a full width ring/ cufflink channel. Both Bramah locks are working and come with their Bramah key.
