Let me start off by saying I am not 100% on this one. I know it is an antique electric motor of some type. I am not sure if it is for antique toy ran by steam engine or maybe a patent model. There are no markings anywhere on it. It does look like the arm that makes contact with the shaft the flywheel is on was replaced at one time. Other than that it seems to be all complete. Antique Old Cast Iron Steam Generator? Caleb Cadwell possible patent model
This sale is for a mostly cast iron antique steam generator? I am not sure what it is. I was told it may be a patent model for a steam generator. I do not know how it works. Or if it works, or if it is missing something. There is a brass plaque with the name Caleb Cadwell inscribed in cursive. I did find that Caleb Cadwell was an inventor around the 1860's. He invented a harvester, implements for a harvester, and there is some information on the web about a steam generator. There is a remnant of paper that was found along with the piece. The paper has Cadwell, m generator, and an unclear date the 28th of some month, in the1800's. The piece's longest measurements are approximately 11 1/2 inches wide, 11 inches deep, and 9 inches tall. Here is very cool little miniature toy or working model of a belt-driven dynamo or electric generator. It spins easily. But I have not tested it so I am unsure if it works. All the parts appear to be there and in good condition. Built very well with a little cast iron frame on a wooden base. Only issue I see is a crack or check in the wooden base. There are some cosmetic blemishes here and there from normal wear and tear. A couple of the rubber pads on the iron rest are deteriorating.There is also a crack on each side of the iron handle near the metal plate.
