Stunning Antique Cast Iron Deco 3 Bulb Flush Mount Ceiling Lamp, New Wiring, 11"
I'm sure this has been painted recently since there is overspray in the socket. I do like the two tone look. New wires have been soldered to the sockets. I believe the wiring was originally attached with screws. Though I don't personally find a problem. Whoever painted it, did not remove the porcelain collars, so you can see in a photo where there is a ring of unpainted iron under each collar. 11" in diameter and 3" deep. This is an original ca. 1930s coin bank in the shape of the Alamo. This was made by Alamo Iron Works of San Antonio. Texas. The bank is in the shape of the Alamo, with a coin slot on top and a screw on the back to open the bank. This measures approximately 2 ¾” across the front and is 1 ¾” high and 3 ½” long. Nice bronzed finish over cast iron. One of the more scarce Alamo Iron Works items. The action on this bank works great. A coin is placed in the pig's snout, then a lever at the back of the bank is depressed. Up for bids a Antique 1870s Reverse Paint Glass& Cast Iron Pedestal Oil lamp. Font Only. Stands 11 1/4" tall. 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" iron base. Tiered clear font with small sunbursts inside diamonds and tied back drapes pattern. The burner mount is tight and the threads are in good condition. The mount is also marked with two patent dates that are difficult to read. The easiest to read I believe is APR 13. 1875 the other may be MCH 21, 1876. see image) Some light scratches and some impurity flaws in both the font and glass pedestal. No chips or bump marks. The iron base has been spray painted and has a number 3 cast into it underneath. Some oxidation. I also have another lamp font that is very similar in style with a blue globe. 1931 Antique Cast Iron SCENES IN ACTION Lamp Italy Gondola Serenade WORKS
For your Bidding consideration in this Auction is SCENES IN ACTION LAMP dated 1931. It is the"Serenade" image of a Gondolier in Venice with 2 Lovers in the front of the boat. He serenading her with a stringed instrument. The casting is quite detailed and very nice. It measures 13" x 8 1/2" x 4" The reverse painted glass backdrop is broken so to get the full effect would suggest painting a replacement scene on a new piece of glass if you have the talent. The spinner is present consisting of a tin lid with plastic skirt underneath of it. The tin lid sits atop a pin and the whole thing rotates circularly as the light bulb heats up and provides a flowing motion to the whole scene when viewed from the front. The plastic skirt has small cuts on it which when pushed into the grommets on the tin lid it rests easily to help ... morecreate the spinning motion. Book Value of comic in this grade would be $46 according to the latest Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide and nice alternative to the $1200 near mint copy! This book will skyrocket in this year's price guide due to the new movies! Defects/Reason for Grade: Decent looking book with some spine wear(no splits) Heavier creasing, small piece missing from top right corner of FC(see scan) name written in pen on cover ... morealong with coloring(Cap's face) and some minor coloring on two interior pages(see scan of 1st page) some edge wear that includes some short tears, and other general surface wear. A good lower grade copy that would make a nice addition to anyone's collection or as a reader copy. Additional Comments: Book has yellowed interior cover and off-white/yellowed interior pages. Book is complete with no cutouts and has tight staples and a tight center page. Note-You may notice that on certain books. I try to take photographs with and without the camera flash to try and capture the gloss if the book has a glossy surface. That is the reason that certain images will have a difference of appearance and may show a light spot from the camera flash-Which is NOT a loss of color on the book itself. Tales of Suspense 45 IRON MAN FINE SOLID
I am Rob- an avid collector of comics since the age of 5. Ive been buying for a long time and on occasion do some selling. As you can see-my feed back is 100% and integrity in selling and buying is important to me. Please check my feed back as a seller- I do the best I can with grading- I agree with many other sellers that grading is subjective- However not so subjective that you cant be within an acceptable ball park grade in the eyes of an experienced collector. I use Overstreet numbering guidelines for grades- again using the Overstreet descriptions of what the grades are but also thinking of what I would be happy with if I were the person making the purchase. I do know what it feels like to purchase a comic described as a VF 8.0 and have it turn out to be somet hing more akin to a F 6.0 or worse UGH! Iron Man #1 High Grade 7.0 Vol 1 Big Premiere Issue! 1968
This is the very first Iron Man and graded by CGC at a 7.0. It is a very colorful comic and the color is bright and it looks amazing. Sadly. I must let it go even though I am a huge fan of Iron Man.
