Here's an interesting find. It's a brass fleam(bleeding tool) made by George Woodhead. This has been sitting in a cabinet that was stored in a garage for at least the last 40 years! It has 3 blades. And all are sharp enough to cut paper. No markings on the outside. One blade has the following etched on it: G Woodhead 36 Howard St Sheffield. According to Google, George Woodhead was at that address from 1845- 1859, making this Fleam about 160 years old. Please look at all of the pictures. It is on record that the above Batallion moved to Ireland in 1917 and by the end of the war were based at Limerick. The notes and associated ephemera relate to Private Woodhead's call up from Chester to Liverpool in July 1918; his subsequent departure from Seaforth Barracks Liverpool where he joined the RWF and was then sent to Limerick arriving there on 30th. July. There is written details of his name. Rank, number etc and station at Limerick. The note gives some details of his journey ... moreto Limerick and a subsequent posting in Ennis etc. There are also details. Presumably, of allowances drawn during the period. All in all a most interesting item indeed- the notes end in November 1918. However at the rear of the note book there is a note from Pte. Woodhead giving details of his clothing allowance.
