It is on it's pole with canopy and wiring seems to be in great working condition. This light measures 12" wide by 9" deep and 9" tall to pole. It has a porcelain socket.Signed Goodrich, Chicago. In the 1880's students got a well rounded education. Could read well, write well, speak well and were knowledgeable in a variety of subjects such as the following which are taught in this volume: Biographical. Historical Biographical, Scientific, and Literary allusions or references, spelling and pronunciation, language on principles of different printed mediums(books, letters etc. Definitions, synonyms, paraphrases, numbers and classic literature. This book could be found in many of the one room school houses that serviced rural America as well as in town and city schools where education of the student was critically important. The finish and graphics on wood are weathered but the wood is still solid and all joints are tight. Here's a video of this implement in action. It looks wobbly in the demo only because it is sitting on a thick layer of loose mulch. The sheller is very sturdy. The corn used in this demo was the large Reid's Yellow Dent. Afterwards. This interesting c.1828 advertising textile was purchased from the estate of Dr. Edward Fogg of Alloway. New Jersey. Fogg owned a renown collection of 18th and early 19thC historical objects. The textile is hand stamped or stencil printed; Manufactured by the Appleton Co. Lowell, Mass. Please read below the description for information on textile mill owner Nathan Appleton, and his role in the history of Lowell and early America. The cotton textile is in excellent condition; as you can see some of the letters are printed a bit lighter than others. Which was likely just the way it was stamped. This remnant is probably from the bolt end; printed there to indicate the manufacturer to the retailer. The frame which dates to around 1860-70. Is not ... moreoriginal to the textile. Frame measurements are 15" wide. 13" height and 3 1/2" deep. Sight area is 8" x 10" The deep-set frame. With o riginal finish has engraved ebonized and gilt borders. Is i n very good condition with some corner separation and mild abrasions noted. Nathan Appleton: In 1813 Appleton co-operated with Francis Cabot Lowell and others in introducing the power loom and the manufacture of cotton on a large scale into the United States. This proving successful. He and others became one of the founders of the Merrimac Manufacturing Company.
