Phillipson Paragon fly rod 8 1/2' - 5 bamboo 3 section very nice original cond.
Today I purchased this Phillipson Paragon fly rod at an estate sale. I don't know really anything about it other than I have read that they fish very well. And I know they were made in the fifties. This is a 3 section 8 1/2' 5 HDH. It also has what looks like a small b with an 8 in front of the length designation. It is in very good overall condition for the age, and does not appear to have any real damage or problems other than very minor scuffs and scratches. It was obviously owned by someone who liked to use it, and it has been well used, but probably has a lot of life left in it. The ferrules seem tight, all the guides are still tightly wrapped, and I do not see any cracks or repairs. I can send better pics too if any one is interested in seeing it in a close up shot with better light. Thanks for looking!

CENTAURE PACIFIC 1953 made in France Up for auction. CENTAURE PACIFIC, with a RARE Centaure Fisherman's Carry Box, and Manual. This is the only box I have seen of this kind, made to fit the tail piece of the reel in the bottom, and a rail for the foot to fit in on the inside wall of the box, with shoulder strap! This reel was manufactored in 1953 by"La Compagnie des Conduites D'eau" C.F.C.E. of Paris, OR, in"The French Water Pipes Company" Being a plumber and a fisherman, I had to have one! The reel is in wonderful shape. And if you study the pictures, you will see what little signs of wear/use there is on this reel. It is a syrprisingly smooth reel, ndbuilt very well, as alot of French reels are. For it's age, it is in amazing shape, visually and mechanically. Fishing reels. Vintage. Lot includes 2 spinning, 1 casting, and 2 fly fishing.
Five different vintage fishing reels plus a leather Heddon reel carrying case and a vintage reel box for a Shakespeare 1946M Service level Winding Reel. All five reels are in fair shape but have had better days. Spinning reels are a Garcia Abu-matic 170 made in Sweden. Reel does not work(won't crank in line) and a Heddon#150. This reel is missing the spool cover but does work. The one casting reel is a South Bend#300"anti-bacl lash" model D. This reel works fine. Needs a little WD-40. Lot has two fly fishing reels.one is a Southbend"oren-o-matic" balanced reel#1130 model D. This is a nice looking reel but doesn't work the way it should. Last is a fly fishing reel that I think is a H-I made in New York. Not sure as to make as there is no markings on it. This reel too needs work. As I said. They are in fair to good condition, soles are worn at edges, but have probably 1/8 depth once away from the edges. I actually played tennis in them and due to the nature of my movements, I always wore the edge's more than the main portion of the sole. Leather isn't perfect, llok at pictures, some light stains, creasing, but, I have conditioned the leather over the year's so they aren't all dried out and there's no shoe white on them. There's no holes and nothing is coming apart, threading and stitching is ... moreall intact. If your like me you loved these back in the day. They would be great to use for Edberg display, or to even wear, soles still have life left in them. They look super retro! The only reason I'm selling is my foot has flattened out with age: and they just don't fit anymore. I'm having to thin out lots of shoes in my collection(see other auctions) So, opportunity for someone to enjoy them as they seem fit!
