Bottle embossed: THE. M. A. GEDNEY/ PICKLING/ COMPANY" NOTE. There is a' period after the word'THE' which is kind of odd. Condition: Bottle is in good condition. It has heavy(mainly inside) stain and some blobs of glass around the neck area. It has some top of lip flaking/roughness and the usual scuffs and scrapes. Otherwise NO damage. It originally produced parts for the local clock-making business. In the 1930s, the company began producing cast metal fittings for the electrical industry under the brand name Gedney Electrical Products. In the late-1960s. OZ-GEDNEY DX100 1" CONDUIT DEFLECTION/EXPANSION FITTING
Here we have an OZ-Gedney expansion/deflection fitting for use with 1" rigid conduit. It could also be used with EMT or PVC conduit if the proper fittings were utilized to connect the ends. This fitting has bronze end fittings with 1" NPT connections and a neoprene rubber body to provide movement. It has an internal grounding strap for ground continuity. This type of fitting is used in conduit runs to permit minor movement due to expansion/contraction and vibration. Please see details from OZ-Gedney's website by using this link: I listed this fitting as being used because I do not know it's history. It has been sitting in our warehouse for many years. The end fittings do not appear to have had conduit threaded into them. The rubber body of the fitting is bowed. This is visible in the photos. It should straighten out when ... moreinstalled in a conduit run. Also. Some of the stitching has loose threads where the rubber body is banded to the end fittings.
