It's my pleasure to offer at auction an Extraordinary and rather Scarce 1930-1935 CROSS(South Bend) NO.2520 8-1/2 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO"SINGLEBUILT" FRESH WATER TROLLING ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL, CORRECTLY LABELED BAG. This gem is one of two absolutely Spectacular rods from Cross/South Bend that I've recently acquired. The other will be listed within days of this one. They are both the finest examples of their model that I've ever seen. The#2520"Singlebuilt" was first introduced around 1930, a few years after South Bend's purchase of the Cross Rod Co. and would be offered in South Bend catalogs through 1935. The sliding band is stamped"Single CROSS Built" as well as"PAT. FEB.15,1927" This was the patent assigned to Wes Jordan and South Bend for the screw-locking reel seat. The butt section's ... morerodshaft carries the serial# 8243, matching the number on the bag label. I've added a photo of the original listing for this very powerful rod from South Bend's 1934 catalog. Built with what could be either high-grade Tonkin or Calcutta cane(back then, on these models, you could specify the"color" of the wood you wanted) and comes equipped with extra tip section, first guide& tip tops of genuine orange agate, 9) bell guides, high quality Cross"supreme" welted and serrated ferrules, knurled nickel silver winding check, patented screw-locking reel seat, elongated solid cork grip& foregrip and very closely wound in maroon silk tipped in what could be chestnut. There are no less than 153 individual wraps. Rod is in solid Extra Fine condition, as nice as they come. I see no evidence of any use, yet to state that it's"unused" would be irresponsible. I will say that you would have to live a long time to see a finer one. Or for that matter, another one, as I've seen only one other about 12 years ago. The rod section are not the same length by des ign. The Scottie Dog logo is visible and this is called an"88" with a line weight of 5-6. It comes with original bag and a metal tube. All original varnish, wraps, ferrules, cork- even the decal is unscathed- and straight as a die with both lengths measuring the same. Looks like it was barely. If ever fished. South Bend's numbering system can be somewhat confusing. But there was some logic to it. The rod model numbers are important for determining the"action" of the rod. South Bend didn't refer to"tapers" in their catalog- probably decided that saying"action" of the rod would mean more to anglers. Each rod"grade" or"quality level" was made in three actions; Wet Fly. They are actually vintage hooks from the 1960s but have little collector value. but they are most definately MADE IN THE USA and are extremely high quality. Sharp and strong. I have a Head Prestige 600(4 1/2 or L4 grip) for sale in good condition. Save for a few tiny paint chips that I've taken pictures for your viewing. There are some scratches on the frame. The head guard itself is in great condition; however there are some grommets at the top of the hoop that may have some issues(see picture-6T, 7T and 9T) For reference, 6T is the tie-off hole(at the hoop) for the cross on Prestige racquets. The bottom grommets are in good shape. The buttcap is original(just missing the sticker) and the serial number is 431(can be seen on the cap) I'll also include the cover with the racquet. here we have a gently used do it mold that has sizes 2 1/2 oz. 2 oz, and 1 1/2 oz with hook size 7/O and 6/O. this is a flathead jid mold assorted sizes model# JFS-3-LA one handle has little wear as you can see but other then that in good shape. thanks for looking

F E Thomas-9 1/2 ft Salmon Rod-Special Series-#382 6 7/8 oz- original tag Nice
For your consideration- A very nice F E Thomas 9 1/2 ft Thomas Special Salmon Rod which also has the fight butt handle- tip tube.Cap and sock- canvas case with orig tag- butt section has ferrule plugs for both ends and the butt end plug is numbered the same as rods reel seat#382- which all matches the original tag guides and wraps nice and tight. This rod is near mint do not think it was used more than a dozen times, the only issue I see with this rod is the butt and middle sections the original finnish is cracking and should be either touched up or refinnished but not terribly check pics- there is a wrap near cork that is starting to come loose and the cork is lightly soiled from use. Orvis "All Rounder" Fly Rod--8' 3", 2 piece, 2 1/2 oz, light 7 wt. with 2 tips
This is an Orvis"All-Rounder" 8' 3" 2 1/2 oz. 2 pc. fly rod. Rated 7 wt. by Orvis, at 2 1/2 oz. this is the same weight as an 8 1/2 ft. 5 wt. Henry's Fork" or an 8 ft. 6 wt. Trout" model, which often weighs in at 2 1/2 oz. Go figure. It is a medium action with a strong back half and softer towards the tip, probably why they rated it for 7 line, because of the strong back half. It is a light 7 wt. and fishes well with a floating or sinking 6, which were the lnes I liked best on it and a DT 5 floating works real well too. This one's in good shape, see the pictures. 2 tips here, the main tip that is original to the rod and a"spare" tip that is 4 inches short, that came off another"All-Rounder" I broke and had repaired by Orvis, so you will have two rods here really. The wraps are all virtually ... moreidentical, a dark burgundy/cordovan color. The tip that's 4 inches short fishes of course a touch faster and heavier, more a true 7 wt. and real suitable for bass bugs or big terrestrials. With this tip on, it's a 7' 11" rod. So there's an original, un-messed with 8' 3" rod, plus a spare tip that's 4 inches short from another"All Rounder. Tube and sock too.

Vintage White Danny Pichney original Conrad 5 1/2" fishing lure
Original white Danny Pichney metal lip swimming Conrad Jr. plug 5 1/2" excluding lip and is 2 1/2 oz. You can tell an original Danny's Conrad plugs by the handmade lips and they vary slightly in size and weight. This plug was especially made for Breezy Point fishermen and was purchased in the late 70s by the owner personally from Danny. This is a deep swimming plug in excellent condition never in the water only the decal eye has a little missing area(see photo) The Conrad Jr. is considered one of the greatest plugs ever made for the rips off the jetty.
